Can someone help me out with my small driveway

Hi all.
I am looking to do up my driveway as cheaply as possible. The space is not much wider/ longer than my car so it's not huge just off road parking.
It currently has brick work laid down but there are so many weeds and tufts of grass growing through it doesn't look very nice. It's also lost its shape at the sides and bricks aren't sitting right (you can tell I'm no builder).
I've been looking at other people's drives on my road and lots seemed to have patterned inprinted concrete (PIC). Does anyone have experience of this? I like the fact it appears to be low mantenance and weather proof. I also saw this gravel type thing which looked like it was stuck down with glue but I have a feeling that's really expensive. I was investigating gravel but I was told that was a no because I am on a slight gradient.
We don't want to spend fortunes but it would be nice to improve it.

I have gravel on a sloping drive. It migrates slowly downhill, and when I can be arsed, I take it back up again. Only about twice a year. Not problematic.

Rake, not take.

Ooh that's good to know it is possible. Do you get many weeds appearing?

The stuff like gravel is resin bonded aggregate.

Yeah, I have to admit, though I like gravel, you do need to keep on top of the weeds.

BubblesBuddy · 21/08/2017 18:46

Weeds can be treated with weed killer. Also if the sub base of the drive is damaged, they will appear and that's an expensive problem to put right. You could possible get Tarmac. That covers a lot of problems and lasts forever but again you need a decent sub base. Gravel will be a pain but cheap. You will get weeds unless you can put down a weed suppressant membrane.

We have a tarmac drive and it looks dreadful. It was here when we moved in and I suspect done on the cheap.

Resin bonded gravel is really slippery in icy weather.

You could see if you could get the brick repaired and remove the weeds and stick down some sand between the bricks to help tidy it back up again. Then attack with weedkiller regularly.

believe you might be on to something really. It's not really the prettiest but it's not our forever home, it's hard to justify spending fortunes. Just intrigued about the PIC.

People up the road from us have patterned concrete. It looks cheap and nasty TBH and appears to be slippery. They don't use their drive!

Millybingbong · 21/08/2017 21:08

I am really liking the resin bonded aggregate - how does it compare price wise? Also how does it age? Can it be 10 years old yet?

bonjovigirl · 22/08/2017 21:17

I had pattern imprinted concrete done earlier this year. Went for a local company with great reviews and service and happy with the result. Think it was about £95/sq m including removal of the old driveways so not cheap.
