Tips for packing up house with young children on summer hols!

Hoping to move in less than 2 weeks. I am working half days this week & need to get on with packing.

Just after any tips from people who've done this while dc's are at home on school hols.

My ds 9 would be more than happy to go on his xbox all day long while I pack but dd 5 wants to 'help' or wants some interaction with me. I was hoping to get lots done today but in between food shop, washing and doing stuff with dd I achieved very little.

What's a good way to tackle this? Wait til they're in bed every night?!

My solution is to pay packers. It's an extra £300 and definitely worth double that at least for making one thing slightly less stressful in this whole process.

Pay packers and call in or beg a few favours for play dates.

Get up really early before they are awake and get someone to take the children out.

Definitely pay for packers. Best decision we ever made when moving with a toddler and a newborn. All stress was removed.

We just moved a week ago. I got about 80 boxes and had them ready to go. We did two hours a night after the kids had gone down. We started in one corner of the house and worked our way through.

Thank you everyone that's helpful.
Supermum did you start packing before you'd exchanged?
Hoping we will exchange today!

Definitely worth paying packers - it takes away the stress. They come in and in a few hours box up your whole house. We did nothing. The following day they turn up at your new home and put all your furniture in place and the boxes in the right rooms. Clothes are in a portable wardrobe which you just transfer to your own wardrobes.

I would never move without packers.

Packers were undoubtedly the best £300 I have ever paid for anything. They packed the day before and then moved everything the next day.
Meant normal life continues until day before and then you can slowly unpack once you are in

honey We live in the US and the process here is very different. Your offer is accepted and after attorney review you are under contract. It's hard to get out of the contract once you are under contract.

We had huge issues getting our mortgage and it was touch and go if we would get the financing we wanted. As we had to put so much cash down, about 45%, we have done everything possible to cut costs of moving including doing our own packing, getting moving boxes from freecycle and we moved ourselves too. It was made easier to do this because we were only moving 4 blocks!!!

We packed everything in about 8 days. We have 3DC, a dog and run two businesses from home. It's a lot of 'stuff'!!!!

One word: PACKERS there's no other way to do it
