Range cooker vs built in ovens

Evening. We're currently planning our new kitchen and I'm torn between a range cooker with induction hob or built in, eye level double ovens, possibly with the hob on the island.

Anyone have both? Pros & cons of each? Thank you Grin

Love my range

See I look at that eye level oven, and I can see how practical it is, and how I wouldn't have to keep kneeling on the floor to get heavy stuff out of the oven, but I just don't like it... Blush

Another supporter for range cookers. We have a Rangermaster 90cm and I use both ovens regularly. I like the built in plate warmer in the second oven and use all 5 rings - the wok burner is great. The quality seems so much better than our old Neff ovens and the food seems to cook better. I would imagine putting either the hob on an island would be a very expensive option. I really don't like Islands, I'd much rather keep the equipment round the side of the room and have a really nice table in the middle, not a thing to share the hob with and sit on stools.

I have used loads of built in ovens and quite a few ranges - my grandmothers rangemaster lost all the markings round the knobs making it virtually impossible to set an accurate oven temp.
Two friends have Britannia ranges - again it is really hard to set an accurate temperature as they have massively imprecise control knobs - you need an oven thermometer. Neither of these is are "cheap" manufacturers.

My considerably cheaper 12 year old baumatic eyelevel oven is great to bake in but I will relish having a minute minder and delay start function when I get my new kitchen with shiny new ovens (one of which may or may not do steam!)

Renting ATM and so fed up with dirt traps around non-built in appliances. Going to be an absolute must when we buy.

I am having two built in ovens (one is a smaller one with grill and microwave) and an induction hob in the island.

Someone earlier said they wouldn't want the mess of a hob in the island but to me a hob is wipe clean whereas with a teenager in the house who dumps things in the sink, my sink is always messier. Also cooking with friends around the island is more inclusive than washing up with them. For me it is the hob in the island. Even with extractor fan issues (which cost money)
