How much do interior designers cost?

I've just brought a 4 bed house. I am ripping the whole place out and want to redesign it but I am not creative in the slightest.

How much would an interior designer cost? I live in the Kent area?

It depends on the designer's level of experience and the amount of work that a client wants. The best thing you can do is approach a few whose portfolios you like online and tell them what you want and how much they charge (some will break it down to an hourly charge, others will quote for a project). Don't worry about making an inquiry and then not following it through with a commission, interior designers are used to dealing with people who are testing the water Smile.

Some times you can come up with ideas via Pinterest or Houzz too that can either allow you to do it yourself, or show the designers the kind of style that you like.

As for charges - some are ridiculous, some high, some fair and some oddly low ... with some sites, like Houzz, you can look at a pro's page and see if they have reviews or images of their work etc, you can read what advice they give out in the dilemma pages etc and see what they are like . Can be useful if you know it's a long term project - you wouldn't want a personality clash half way through !

Pro and cons of doing it your self v using a pro
Main one is cost - but you might get things cheaper via a pro
Time - but if you don't have any thing else to do - it could be fun to try yourself - but if you are busy it's great to delegate.
Pro finish - before the likes of Pinterest and Houzz and ofcourse MN I'd say you only get a pro finish with a pro - but with all that inspiration about - some home owners can do a pretty awesome job themselves ?! But have seen some disasters too !

What ever you decide - best of luck - stay safe - get any functional areas, like kitchens, safety checked before you order anything if you decide to plan yourselves.
And have fun !!!
