Henley-On-Thames as a potential move from SW19

Hi, would be keen to hear your thoughts on Henley as a place to live and to commute to London from.
We are thinking of a move out of London but honestly have no idea where we would like to go!
We have been to Henley and loved it, hence why I'm curious.
We have 2 x DS, 2.5 and 3.5 so thinking if schools too.
Thanks!

@rainsbow. I commute 2.5 hours a day (not from Henley, or even near there) and you get used to it. I like the quiet time.

Regarding commute your best bet would be to drive to Wycombe (20 mins from Marlow) and then super fast train to Marylebone (30 minutes) - I know loads of people who do this and it works really well.

It's only 15 mins more than what we do from Wimbledon so it's not much of a difference! Still a longish commute though for sure.

I have an 8 minute commute. I'll never ever moan again if there's traffic. Hats off to you.

I'm so jealous!!

Depends what your priorities are on a daily basis.

If you want a short commute then GX, Seer Green & Jordans, Beaconsfield are much better than Marlow as 18 mins is fastest train to Marylebone. Lovely walk to stations - or look in surrounding villages for 5 min drive (v little traffic) and park at station.

Schools are excellent. Stunning open countryside and nice restaurants and shops. Much lower key (less busy) than Marlow which is very much over run by day trippers at the weekends. I love it there - but I dont need or want to live in the midst of it. At weekends we often pop up (20 mins drive) for a walk on the river at Marlow - or we drive into central London - 25 mins on the M40.

The drive to HW station is v congested from Marlow - across major motorway junction and then thru HW town.

Hi all does anyone know of a great mother’s help for 3/4 hours twice weekly afternoons - I like in Littlewick Green. Must be able to drive thanks :)

Cookham is a small pretty town.
Henley is gorgeous and I would be happy to live apart from congestion at peak times. Marlow would be better for commuting.

How about Walton on Thames or Hersham?
