Quartz worktop for L-shaped island. Join?

Hello
Comparing two kitchen quotes at the moment- both for exactly the same kitchen. We're having a large L-shaped island in the middle of it (don't have measurements in front of me unfortunately).
Both have quoted for a specific Quartz worktop. However, one quote specifies that the worktop will have to have a join in, whilst the other doesn't. The company who has said there'll need to be a join has itemised the worktop cost at around £4K, while the other company have wrapped it into an overall quote, which is coming out at about £3.5K more expensive than the 'join' company's quote for the whole shebang.
I presume you don't have to have a join, but this would be much more expensive to template? But if that's the case, why didn't the cheaper kitchen company quote us for a single piece? Confused.com. Any insights welcomed!

I wouldn't assume that the one that doesn't specify the join is making it out of one piece.

I'd assume an l-shape was 2 pieces unless it specified otherwise rather than assuming it was one piece unless it specified otherwise.

There's a huge amount of waste making it out of 1 piece.

I've found there's also a huge variance in price for work tops between suppliers even when comparing like with like.

Not all quartz come in jumbo slabs - the one without a join maybe using a jumbo but which is pricier per metre.

Quartz is a natural material normally 'ground up' so it will need a join in an L shape run unless they have huge sheets of it but then it may not fit through your doorways so it will need a join. I would give them a call and make sure it is definitely for Quartz as there is another material that you can 'hide' the joins by buffing them out but it will still all need a join.

Thank you bean, very helpful. On closer inspection it looks like a quartz composite product- it's called Compaq:
'Compac worktops are engineered to combine genuine quartz granulates and high quality resin, with a wide variety of particles and other pigments to generate a wide-ranging colours and textures. These worktops are available in 20mm, 30mm and 50 mm in thickness.'

So I'm guessing this may be available without a join? Will obviously check though...

If your Compaq has a slight pattern the join should buffer away nicely so you shouldn't see it. They show more in solid colours.

quartz comes in 3050mm x 1400/1600 slabs
if your 'L' shape falls within that then no join will be needed

Thanks guys. Didireally it's a matt, Carrara marble effect so that could well be do-able. Thanks everyone.
