Dripping tap

ive got that age old problem of a dripping tap. I've searched some previous threads but they are from a few years ago. I have managed to speak to one builder about fixing my dripping tap but when I asked him if he could give me an idea of how much it would cost to fix his answer seemed a bit steep. Ive no idea when it comes to diy so what sort of price should I expect to pay to change a washer in a basin tap. I live in Hampshire.

How old is the tap?

Has it been turned off repeatedly by a (usually older) person who likes to use great force?

Show us a photo.

I know a plumber who charges £50 for a call-out, and another (retired) £30.

If you have a set of wrenches you could save yourself up to £49
