Hi all

So renovating the house before little ladies arrival. We're having a kitchen like this one..

www.diy.com/departments/kitchen/fitted-kitchens/it-santini-gloss-anthracite-slab/cat710026.cat

No island but units all along for a 2.8m x 5.4m kitchen. (currently the oldest kitchen diner you'll ever see that's falling apart with a weird breakfast bar with overhead glass thing that had ornaments in 😬😂)

Were having the nice worktops that don't have a visible join as such which are more expensive. And the kitchen includes built in slimline dish washer, a washing machine, electric oven, gas hob with glass Base and a full height larder(pull out larder for spices tins jars etc),small square sink, decent taps and an extractor fan. For £4,200.

I didn't think that was too bad but my dad(who is apparently a bargain Hunter but spend 15k on his own kitchen) thinks I've being mugged off 😂

How much did you pay for your kitchen?

PS. We're renovating pretty much the whole house before baby arrives. Wish me luck 😂

We paid double that without appliances for a painted kitchen from DIY Kitchens. Seems a reasonable price to me, but it depends if the appliances are own brand or known brand. Get a full size dishwasher.

What is that ugly pipe going across the the back of raised area behind the house?

Shadowboy · 15/07/2017 08:01

We had 12 'units' an electric 90cm belling range, in built dishwasher and ceramic Belfast sink along with solid oak worktops and an island for seating under one side and this cost including fitting by an independent carpenter £7000 or thereabouts.

Shadow this is exactly the type and layout of kitchen we are hoping to get. Where are you based?

wowfudge · 15/07/2017 08:06

We have got more than twenty units though some are small.

hiddenmnetter · 15/07/2017 08:29

If that price includes fitting, worktops and appliances I'd say it sounds too good to be true. For the size you've described I'd expect that to cover units and appliances but not fitting. Worktops potentially if you're getting laminate or oak. Stone worktops I'd say no chance.

What precisely is included? What appliances? How many units (and width). What worktops?

Right now if I've read your post right I'd say you've managed an amazing bargain. I'd check with the fitter that the price includes his labour...

hiddenmnetter · 15/07/2017 08:32

Sorry- it's a kitchen diner: you're not getting 7m of units. Price sounds more likely now. Sounds a good deal

Confuseddot · 15/07/2017 08:36

Hi sorry should have stated we are paying fitting separately. We have friends in different trades who are letting us pay them mate rates in etuen for rmy other half's profession if mate rates

Wow fudge that is a waste pipe. All he gardens have them running throigh their front but most owners have boxed then in or they are inside their grass verges.

Were just focusing on the inside and changing the awful aluminium windows and doors because on a hot day its like a green house until baby arrives. Then next year we will be tackling front and back garden. And then hopefully moving in about 4 years.

confused that link had your full address in it including number. Might be worth deleting and adding link again with different name.

Our kitchen was £12k for Corian worktop, 11 bottom cupboards. Two tall pullout cupboards, integrated dishwasher, sink and extractor fan plus a row of five glass cupboards on other side of breakfast bar

Confuseddot · 15/07/2017 08:57

I don't know how to delete or change the name.

Zoopla shows everyone's address it's publicly viewable.

I've just paid £6k for my Wickes kitchen, £5k to have it fitted (wall knocked down, replastered, new lights, painted) £1,700 in electrics - we also had the hall lights, plastering and painting done in those prices too.

We love it! Loads of cupboards and storage.

  • that includes all zanussi appliances too!
MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 15/07/2017 11:24

BG just curious, what's the angled larder looking cupboard in the corner, just wondered cause there's no base boards under it (nosey emoji)

BG2015 · 15/07/2017 12:27

It's why we bought the kitchen! It's so useful!

Although I doubt those wine racks will ever be full Grin

We've realised our builder/joiner could have put some angled kickboards on the cupboard doors (since visiting Wickes again and seeing it in the showroom) may get him back!

OH doesn't mind the gap but I'd prefer it to the floor

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 15/07/2017 12:52

That's great, often angled cupboards end up with wasted space.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 15/07/2017 14:51

We started off with a plan from B and Q for the exact kitchen you linked to.

We're paying £3000 for our gloss kitchen from Howdens. That is just the units doors and handles.

I sourced worktops sink tap extractor and appliances elsewhere.

KanielOutis · 15/07/2017 15:47

I paid £7000 for a kitchen from Wren and another £5000 to have it fitted. We had to have the whole flat re wired and that was included in the price! Thankfully we are first floor of a house conversion so all the wires were in the floor not up the walls, that would have added extra thousands. Doing the kitchen unearths a whole load of unexpected works.

Confuseddot · 16/07/2017 00:37

We booked with b and q in the end. £5600 for all appliances including American fridge freezer with water dispenser. 40 sqm of flooring to do the whole of downstairs and also lighting. Thanks for your comments all x

BG2015 · 16/07/2017 06:34

Is that fitted too?

Confuseddot · 16/07/2017 08:41

No they wanted a couple of thousand for fitting I think!

That's for the units which run along both walls of our kitchen diner. A built in oven. A gas hob with glass base(looks better to match other stuff) glass extractor fan. Built in washing machine. Built in dishwasher. Sink. Taps. Large larder. Large American fridge freezer with water dispenser. Worktops we picked are more expensive than usual ones I can't remember the name but it has no joins basically where the joins are. It looks one level all around. I shall have a look later if anyone is interested. Includes 40sqm of flooring to do our whole downstairs flooring. Living room kitchen and hallway. And our lighting for the kitchen too.

Our best friend is fitting the actual units and work tops, all the flooring downstairs and skirting and hanging 4 doors upstairs for £820 in return for my other half doing his plumbing/gas cheap when he buys a house. Other half will do all the plumbing and another good friend is doing the electrics for £240 over two days. (I need my mains box updated as old owners done a bodge job and we don't know what anything connects to in there, plus putting a lot more sockets in as there are three in the whole kitchen at the moments!

I have windows and door people coming Monday and Tuesday as well. 6 windows and. Aback door to change from aluminium to double glazing pvc. So glad things are going to get Done but not looking forward to the mess at five months pregnant. I'm gonna be sat in my room. I've done my but the wallpaper stripping and I'll help paint. That's my lot haha

This sort of layout. Ignore the colour of the walls and floors. They just do that

Kitchens can be as cheap or as expensive as you want them to be. if you are having all those fancy mechanisms and pull of units then it's going to cost a whole lot more. Stay clear of the highstreet stores as well for fitting as they charge ridiculous amounts. Get rid of your old kitchen, flat pack the units in the back of your car to the skip and get an independent kitchen fitter in to price the job up for you. Save loads that way.

Confuseddot · 19/07/2017 18:20

Thanks Ramona. Our friend is fitting for £500 and the only fancy bit I had was a pull out larder. Just not looking forward to Oving in a building site but it'll all be worth it!
