ive got the farrow and ball colour card. its for small hallway and landing. all woodwork will be white gloss. i want a dark grey/silver carpet.
what shade would be good on the walls? the space is small so nothing too dark. and i want a proper grey tone - i saw elephants breath but its quite tawny. ill go for warmer shades in the bedrooms so something that works with other neutrals.
hit me! thank you!

little greene French Grey - comes in three tones - we have it all over the shop in my house!

I've spent a small fortune on F&B grey tester pots recently and I still can't find the perfect frickin' grey! Cornforth White is a really straight grey (i.e. not blueish or greeny or yellowy etc. underneath, just a good, nice grey) but it's too pale in the light of my big bay fronted kitchen. Might be lovely in your hall though!

Waterlemon · 13/07/2017 16:50

I've just used Cornforth white in my bathroom as I found other greys were too 'blue', to match the grey tiles. this grey has a warm beige tone to it. I did also like dulux polished pebble but felt it was a bit too light for the room.

Waterlemon · 13/07/2017 16:52

I had the local paintshop mix the colour up in their trade emulsion rather than pay F&B prices

I've been really pleased with polished pebble in the three rooms I have it in. Depending on the outdoor light/time of day it can take on pale lavender tones but I still think it's a nice pale neutral.

We've got dulux polished pebble in our hall. It's lovely. It was very hard to find a grey that wasn't pinky/purpley in tone (DH is not a fan).

We've got dusted moss 2 in the bathrooms, which is also lovely but has (as you'd guess from the name) more greeny tones.

myusernamewhichisthis · 13/07/2017 21:16

thank you! polished pebble might work just lovely. .dug the dulux chart out.

ill get some testers. id go for darker grey like plummett but dont want to make it gloomy.....that said its quite a light space and most of the landing is doors.....which will be white.

We have F&B Strong White in our bedroom and it is pale but definitely grey if you know what I mean. A good one for small spaces I think.

StarryCorpulentCunt · 13/07/2017 21:19

Sleeping Inn from Valspar is a lovely grey. Popular and not too blue

FlossieFrog · 13/07/2017 21:20

We've got Dulux Chic Shadow in our dining room - it's deeper than polished pebble.

kimmy121 · 13/07/2017 21:58

After numerous testers, we've just settled on chic shadow for the bedroom.

BubblesBuddy · 14/07/2017 01:23

Elephants Breath is a warm grey. Easy to
Live with. Cornforth white is cooler but is also great. I have it with a silver grey carpet and Wimborne white Eggshell for woodwork. Gloss - NO!

DragonMamma · 14/07/2017 07:29

We have cloud burst by crown. It's the perfect shade, it's proper grey and not blue/green.

namechangedtoday15 · 14/07/2017 08:00

We have Pebble Shore by Dulux all over the house - definitely a true grey. We also have Laura Ashley Dove Grey which is lovely and our kitchen base cabinets are f&b railings but I think that might be too dark for a hall. We also have Elephants Breath in our lounge but its more beige in our room.

Confused009 · 14/07/2017 14:03

I would have said elephants breath but may be do dark for this colour so cornforth or strong white might be good

ladypie21 · 14/07/2017 14:18

Chic shadow in our bathroom. A little on a the dark side I would think for a small dark space but lovely against white picture frames and woodwork. We have just walnut on out hallway and stairs. It a warm light greige.

changeitback · 14/07/2017 16:43

I think Elephants Breath might be a bit too beige.
Cornforth is proper grey but if there's no natural light could be gloomy.
Strong White or Blackened would be my choice.

Wevet

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 19:52

I have polished pebble in my living room and kitchen. It's v v pale grey in mine due to the light. I would probably go darker next time and more towards chic shadow

MrsAlwaysRight · 14/07/2017 20:58

Dulux grey steel 2 is a proper grey with no blue, green or purple undertones.

placemark123 · 15/07/2017 07:31

I've had strong white and elephants breath together - lovely but the strong white def became a white, and the elephants breath has a lot of brown in it. Also had cornforth White on the walls with dulux timeless on ceilings and woodwork and it was surprisingly cool as a very shady room. Just about to move and going for l&g French grey pale!

GreyBird84 · 16/07/2017 11:33

Dulux goose down is beautiful

Bluesheep8 · 19/07/2017 16:10

Another vote from me for dulux polished pebble, we have this in our bathroom-I was torn between this and chic shadow (it's darker sister, if you like) amount of light dictates which of these two looks like the true grey you describe imo
