Two single oven stacked, single and compact or double oven?

I'd seen a double oven for the kitchen but it's now been discontinued and dh does want to buy it in case we have problems with parts. Can't find another double with same spec at a good price (all £750+ vs the £500 that one was) so looking at other options.
Two single ovens stacked seems to be the cheapest option but I'm only 5'4 so not sure if I would be able to reach stuff in the top oven easily. Compact ovens seem really expensive compared to normal sized!
Anyone have any of these combinations and regret it or would you choose the same? Help please!

Used to have a double oven, now have 2 single ovens but side by side. I think at 5'4", it'd be difficult to get 2 (normal sized) ovens stacked at a comfortable height. Definitely prefer 2 single ovens.

2 single side by side. You'd need a ladder if you had them stacked Shock

I wouldn't worry about parts, I have got bits from Partmaster/ebay for really old appliances. Most of the parts don't change from model to model. I know that was not quite your question!

We haven't got room for side by side or that would be the choice. I had read somewhere else that fewer and fewer double ovens are being made and may cease to exist completely in 10 years which is also worrying me a bit. I think that this is because they are only made for the UK?

We've 2 single ovens stacked. I'm 5'5 and it's no problem.

Do you just use lower shelves in the top oven puddleducks? Dh is 5'10 so he would have no problem reaching the higher shelves of the top one. Plus if I get single ovens I can get self cleaning ovens!

Hi puddleducks just having to decide this very question ..designer said top oven at 1840 is too high ( my request) and so suggested 1705 or 1800 ...would you mind very much telling me high high from the floor your bottom oven is please ? and if they are stacked straight on top of each other ? It's very hard to visualise....thanks so much

I'd be very wary of having an oven higher than the top of your head, or the top shelf (which will be the grill pan) will be well above shoulders. You can easily get oven housing units customised with different drawer fronts etc to adjust the levels. I'd have the join between them at about worktop level or not much above.

Having a slide&hide door on the higher oven will make it safer to reach in as well. And telescopic runners on the lower one.

I'm 5ft 5 and have two singles stacked on top of each other. I can get things in OK but use a small fold away stool to get hot things out of they are bulky or wide (eg a baking tray or roasting tin). Its not impossible without the step just a bit awkward. We had no choice in our kitchen layout though as the top oven is also a (stupidly expensive) microwave as there was no other space for it.

I have just spent weeks debating this and have gone for 2 Puri ovens stacked from IKEA. There is just 1 40cm drawer below. I was worried about catching my arm on the top oven when getting things out, but decided that it was at the same height as a double would be. I will probably grill in the bottom oven though. I have also heard about doubles being discontinued but most kitchen showrooms deny this...

YorkshireTea86 · 15/07/2017 08:49

Spoken to dh and we've decide to go for 2 singles stacked. We are getting a fold away stool anyway because we're going for extra height wall cupboards. Will get one pyro clean and use that for grilling and roast so have it at the bottom. What swung it for dh was cost of replacements, it's unlikely both will go at the same time so means that it won't be as expensive to replace as a double in future.
