How fast can you go from offer to completion?

If it's not in a cabin & we are cash buyers?

My mum keeps muttering about 'insuring against searches makes it faster'

Any advise?

5 weeks for us when we sold our flat. Cash buyer who had to be in by a certain date, and we accommodated her to make it happen.

8 working days.
We viewed the house on the evening of Monday 20th, offered the asking price there and then. 9am on Tuesday 21st the estate agent confirmed offer accepted and our solicitor started work. We exchanged on Tuesday 29th and completed on Thursday 31st.
The developers and estate agents were gobsmacked by our speed. In all their years they had never seen anyone move so fast.
The developer hadn't finished building the house, so when we arrived with our removal lorry a very surprised builder was disturbed at his work.
I gave our solicitor a big bunch of flowers! We had to move that fast because our Plan A house move had collapsed and if I didn't get plan B house then I would lose my buyer. I am eternally grateful to everyone for working so fast.

My parents bought the house DP DD and I live in when I was 8 months pregnant, we moved in two days after DD was born. Her due date was a week later but she clearly didn't want to wait, which was annoying as I wanted a home birth. But it was about 4 weeks from offer to completion. This was a cash purchase and required a lot of chivvying of the solicitors and the former owner as my parents wanted the house in time for DD as we had a lot of disruption with DP having to quit his job and we moved out of London when his DM was diagnosed with terminal cancer when I was 6 months pregnant. Not sure if the sob story helped speed things up or not though!
