Carpets on interest free

Feel quite guilty as I know a lot of Property/DIY posters are in the 'horrible chains' stage and I'm lucky enough to be in the closing stages, so huge luck to all concerned. It's a truly crappy situation and we went through 2 collapsed chains before getting to a point where we should exchange this week, so I feel for you greatly. I am emotionally holding off imagining us in our house until someone has cash in their bank that says it's ours!!

That said, it does look like it's going to happen so as it's a new build, I need to get some carpet down. We have maxed ourselves out on other stuff and so I want to look at the big retailers who do Interest Free.

Any feedback on Carpetright, Tapi or anyone else you can recommend?

Carpet right in my experience are incompetent assholes

Can you get a credit card ? I'd stay clear of the big ones you pay more anyway, tried getting roll ends? I do this all time and it's mega cheap, I have dogs but hate laminate so change mine a lot and always do this , even with the big rooms!

Do what I do and buy from the Internet and get a local fitter in. I have used 100% wool Berber throughout my house for around £7 - 8 a square meter and it's absolutely fine.

Avoid carpetright, they are dreadful.

wowfudge · 02/07/2017 18:59

There are always threads where posters advise avoiding Carpetright. We've always done alright when we've bought from them and never had a problem. They often have some kind of sale on so you have to be unlucky to pay the list price.

I used carpetright and they were great, I did an entire house. The fitters even moved furniture. Maybe it depends on the management in that area.

Lucisky · 02/07/2017 19:45

Carpetright were quite happy to take nearly 3k off us, but failed totally in after sales sevice. They did not allow enough fitting time, then some of the "ten year guaranteed" vinyl split and they weren't interested. They would not answer or deal with phone calls, so my partner actually had to go to the store (and buttonhole the manager) and threaten them with trading standards. They are a shower of shit, in this area at least. I now use a private local firm, who are at least interested in customer care and satisfaction. BYW I am in Gloucestershire.

I am also looking into this option. TAPI has great reviews on trust pilot. But when i went instore they said it's only interest free on the carpet/materials. Upfront payment will have to be made to the fitter

John Lewis do interest free on purchases over £1000 - and they have special buys on just now.

We've used SCS twice and they have been very good.
