Corner kitchen cupboards- would this work?

I'm generally not a fan of pull out or spinning corner cupboards because of the potential for things to fall off the shelves and then how on earth are you supposed to retrieve them without being a contortionist? But our kitchen has two corners, so I was thinking about using one of the corner cupboards for either recycling and rubbish bins, or for appliances. Would that work, or should I stick to regular shelves with l shaped doors for easy access? Anyone done this in their kitchen?

I hate corner cupboards with a vengeance.

My new kitchen will have a corner pantry so a diagonal door and no hidden stuff
Also having one in the utility room for one of the corners in there. The other corner in the utility room will have some deep shelves for stuff I really don't use or care about.

I have one Le Mans pullout, one of the more expensive ones which I use for tins and jars. The other has baskets in it, two on each shelf, with things like blender bits, rarely used baking tins etc. It used to have small appliances in it but they were a nightmare to get in and out and stuff just lived at the back.

My Le Mans has been excellent tbh, it holds a lot.

I've had carousel corner cabinets for 10 years plus and never lost anything off the back and that's with 2 stroppy teen DS who were hardly gentle.

What were you thinking re appliances?

SpearmintTea · 28/06/2017 21:21

I'm thinking of food processor, bread maker, blender, pasta pan, etc

My first ever photo on Mumsnet. This is a 90x90 Ikea cupboard with a hinged door. I had two shelves put in to my specification, so there is room for cereal packets to the left, bottles to the right. Saw the idea on the old Ikeafans website.

I have a stainless steel Magic Corner and would definitely recommend it. Nothing has fallen off yet.

I like you picture Marysplace I have just ripped out the carousel in my corner cupboard and am planning shelves - the biggest difference so far is I can store more in the base of the cupboard than I could on the carousel!

I have three corner units in my kitchen. One just has shelves which I use for casserole dishes and such like. The other two have carousels. One I use for big things like my slow cooker and large baking bowls the other I use for my plastic storage boxes. The last one has the most potential for things like lids falling off but they are easy to retrieve. I can't imagine how you could put appliances in the corner.

I have two "magic corners" very expensive but worth it to get all the space used up. I keep all the crockery in one and all the casserole and gratin dishes in the other.

I like the corner drawers if you can get deep full depth ones. Means you have more conventional cupboard space

I've also seen three bins on a rotator but wonder about rubbish falling behind and cleaning being awkward

YorkshireTea86 · 29/06/2017 11:38

I've seen the recycling rotating bins on Pinterest, looked like it could work.
We'll have 2 corner cupboards in the new kitchen, one will be have a le mans pull out in for large pans, or ones not used as often. The other will be an L shaped one for big appliances like bread maker, blender etc.

We had a cupboard like MarysPlace too. Just that little change to the shelves - offset and about 40cm deep - makes the whole cupboard visible and accessible and great for bulky items like woks and preserving pans. I had to get the kitchen fitter to install the different shelves but overall it's a cheap option. I would really recommend it having lived with it for 5 years.
