I think our extension quotes are ridiculously high!

If I'm wrong, I need to know. I'm going by local friends, the spaces they've had made recently and also google!

We have a 1930's unextended house, with the living room, dining room and small kitchen. We want to knock the rooms st the back together snd extend out the back and side to make a large kitchen diner. Kind of like everyone I know has done! Grin

They have all told me 40/45/50 at a push...

My quotes so far are 87 and 110!! Shock I almost had a heart attack.. surely the exact same extension on the exact same house can't be that different??

Ours (very similar 3m rear extension and knock through) was 60k including everything apart from kitchen.
Having said that it included building up at least half a course extra at the back to reach floor level because of the garden drop off, and a fully fireproof underhouse storage with elevated garden decking area in composite decking.....

We are north west Kent and our extension is (internal dimensions) 4m x 7 something metres, to plaster finish plus kitchen fitting (we are supplying kitchen). Total cost is £50k, with kitchen etc on top, but we are going over that by 10 ish percent. We were quoted upwards of this to £120k for the same finish!!!

We knew the builder though otherwise would have been nervous going with the cheapest option. We are also his last clients before registering for VAT. Build quality seems fine but we have had project management issues through either inexperience or just cr*p organisation skills.
