Hey. Currently we are in month 3 of selling our home on the east of scotland. We have a brand new house to go but the builders have stated being pushy. We have a 3 bedroom semi-detached house valued at £135000. We have just dropped the price to £127000 fixes. Had 12 viewers in 9 weeks but had no one for a month. Thought the change in price may help but still nothing. I suffer from depression but can usually manage to control it. But the house thing is pushing me over the edge. Constantly feel ill about the while situation.

Agree you MUST get on Rightmove. First place everyone looks.
Secondly you should get rid of your large print wallpaper. It dominates the rooms and distracts you from looking at the room itself. Immediately makes you think - I'll have to redecorate.
Buyers can be so quick to judge and have absolutely no vision so if they don't like the first glance (because they don't like the wallpaper) they may not bother looking much further into it.

Selling your house is a terribly stressful time and I can completely understand why you are upset. Remember it's no reflection on your taste, you like what you like, it's just dumbing down your house for buyers who can't see past anything they don't like. Your kitchen and bathroom are a little dated but if you are like me that's a positive, I like to put my mark on a property rather than pay premium for someone else's taste.

Good luck!

Oh and in terms of coping strategy. Don't be there for viewings, let the agent do them. It's uncomfortable and stressful and people can give you a completely false impression of how much they like the house (gushing to you and then walking outside to the agent and saying they don't like it) that way you avoid getting your hopes up as people will generally be honest with an agent as they won't take things personally. Let your agent earn their commission!

I agree with painting all the patterned walls in neutral colours. The rooms do look quite spacious so that's a plus. I don't think I'd rush to lower the price too quickly. Have a good look round at the other houses for sale nearby and see how your house compares price wise and decor. Hope you get a buyer soon.

Just wondering if OP is coming back?

Another one who thinks neutral decor would really help, also decluttering the garden and adding some colourful pots. I would remove the shampoo in the bathroom and take the picture with the car in from a different angle. I only ever use right move too, so would recommend you get the agent to list it there.
