Has anyone else had a horrible experience moving into new house?

Moved in yesterday. House not cleaned (not filthy, but not vacuumed, drawers not wiped out etc), bins full of rubbish, a few bits taken that were supposed to be left, but what really miffed me was they didn't even leave a note to say "Hello, the bin day is Friday, welcome to your new home" etc. I left flowers, champagne, card, and a list of all sorts of stuff for the people who bought our house (there was another thread on this). I just feel it's so rude. You're selling your house! You should clean your house and leave a note/your forwarding address, shouldn't you? I feel like writing to them and saying "where are your manners?" Paid just under asking, and smooth process of buying. What is wrong with some people? I feel as though I get much more information when I get a holiday let - these sellers haven't even told us about where the stopcock is. UGH!!! Anyone else? Tell me your horror stories?

Mild annoyance but in last house the vendors said they were leaving the dimmer switches, so we left ours behind, only to find they had taken them.
Why would you keep going back to a house you've sold? We haven't moved far, but I have been avoiding going near our old road, let alone the house.
Just remembered when we viewed last house the vendor went into the bathroom and learned against the basin so we couldn't see it. I thought it was odd at the time. When we moved in it turned out there was a huge crack in the basin and as pronounced slope to the floor. The floor cost us quite a bit to sort out.

First house I bought was left in a dirty state and with a big hole in the wall that had been hidden behind a picture.
I didn't forward their post (Ha!)

Vendor still in house with all his possessions, with his (adult) children looking panicked about how they were going to get everything out. House absolutely filthy, I think he fried every meal he ate and there were weird stains everywhere. It had looked ok when we viewed it but it was all hidden behind furniture.

Our movers piled all his stuff in one room and moved ours in around it. I sobbed as I scrubbed the filth off stuff. He eventually left at 5.30pm - we exchanged at 11am. Our solicitors held money back until he was properly gone.

Meanwhile, I had literally hoovered us out of our flat. Left a nice note and a bottle of prosecco in the fridge. But we did leave them with a back door that was very swollen and hard to open. It had been like that all through viewing though.

We walked in to our new house and found dog poo walked into the carpets through the lounge and dining room, A massive hole in the back door (deliberately done as you could see the shoe prints) all the doors removed from the hinges, the shower ripped out the wall, the shower screen smashed, cupboards full of rubbish and stuff the didn't want to take, a garage - big enough for 2.5 cars- filled to the top with rubbish and the loft filled with junk too. We found out after that he didn't want to sell but it was a court order so thought he would make it even more difficult for us. Took for another 3/4 weeks before we could actually move in. Angry Angry bastard! All I keep praying for his karma

When we moved into our house the vendors were still there when we arrived with the keys. They must have kept a copy. They were having a leisurely lunch before packing... well when we finally got in the house was filthy, the oven had a tray full of burnt bacon. The garage, attic and all cupboards were full of stuff like broken cots, car parts and porn. It took me months to clear it all (I had a 2 year old and a baby who was just out of hospital with bronchiolitis). The worst bit was the teenage boys room, they left his cabin bed in it. Obviously we couldn't use it (also it was battered and falling to bits) so when we moved it we found years and years worth of fingers and toenails Confused.

Fingernails and toenails Grin not actual fingers.

Fleas. Moved into a lovely house, nice vendors - clean, tidy, nice folder with info and warranties and user guides. All great. But I kept getting bitten. Night after night more bites appearing on my legs. Couldn't understand why until I was speaking to my new next door neighbour who told me that she had the same bites issue in the house when she had fed her ex-next door neighbours cats for her previously.

It was fleas! Urgh. I used several of the "bombs" from pet stores - no use. Had a professional team in to de-infest the house. Lasted a few days and then bites started reappearing.

In the end we had to have all of the carpets ripped up and we had no money to replace them so had to live with floorboards and a few rugs for months until we'd saved enough to have new carpets fitted.

It's now on my pre-viewing questions list to the EA and if the current owner has cats I won't bother viewing their house.
