Probably yes if it is a decent unit.
Look at the pump you have now and google it and check price.

SoThisIsSummer · 21/06/2017 20:34

where would the pump be! would it be in the loft?

Ours was in the airing cupboard, next to hot water tank. Last time it cost a similar amount to replace.

Shower pumps don't like running for long periods of time - our teenager liked long showers which shortened the pump life. I think the original one lasted about 3 years, the replacement Grundfos pump was about £250.

Hi
Likely to be fairly near the shower but could be in loft (unusual) or in a cupboard. When it was working, where did the pump motor noise come from?!!
Installing a replacement will involve some electricity (wire in the new motor) and the water aspect. This might involve draining the hot and cold system, but will depend if there were isolation 'taps' installed to make the job easier.

DermotTheSprog · 21/06/2017 20:58

I just paid €650 plus labour for same, to replace a 9 year old pump.

Okite · 21/06/2017 20:58

Yeah sounds about right unfortunately. We've just bought one to be installed in a new shower and it was about £260 for the pump alone.

Cakescakescakes · 21/06/2017 21:00

Was quoted £400 last month for new pump and fitting.

reallybadidea · 21/06/2017 21:01

DH isn't massively 'handy' but he recently saved us a similar amount by finding a second hand one on eBay for £50 and installing it himself. He said it was pretty straightforward.

RandomlyGenerated · 21/06/2017 21:34

Fitting a like-for-like replacement should be straightforward - no new wiring or plumbing required.

Wow!! OK!! I am aghast.

I must admit though its been there for a good ten years so I guess we are lucky really!

Thanks at least I know I am not being robbed Grin

He thinks its not working because we replaced the shower hose....and its too thin Confused
