Matching bricks

I'm having a conservatory built starting tomorrow. The company phoned this afternoon to say they cannot find matching bricks to my house. They are an unusual light colour.

He said they would board the interior for me free of charge. The external sides won't really be visible but the patio door section of wall will be seen.

Cross at being told this last minute. He said 10 month wait for correct ones! Mmmm.

Should I ask them to render visible external wall for free? This would match front of my house. Does boarding then need plastering?

Advice please.

I would ask for the outside to be rendered. Unfortunately this means you have to keep it painted but it's better than mis matching bricks. I think 10 months is exaggerated but matching bricks in older houses can be problematic. It is not helped by the fact brick sizes have changed during the last 20 years as far as some manufacturers are concerned. Did you look on the web for brick manufacturers and colours.

If they plaster board the interior get them to skim it to it is ready for painting. Personally I think it will be better than exposed brick. Make sure you choose flooring and get it installed before the skirtings go in.
