The first one you ever bought I mean. And how much equity did you have when you sold it? Just curious. :)

We bought 4.5 years ago for £180k. About to (hopefully) sell for £280k.

Bought our first place (ex local authority red brick 3 bed) in 1991 for £48k with a £45k bank staff mortgage . Basically just tidied up the garden, new roof , created off street parking and did it up decoratively. Sold for £68k 9 years later in 2000 . There was an article in the local papers about property developing and our property has since sold again for £161k in 2016.
Second property bought for £98k in 2000. Extended at a cost of £55k. Estimated worth now £350th.

Still there now 15yrs later!
Bought for 186,000 in 2002
Worth 350,000 when last remortgaged 2yrs ago.

BUT we've borrowed extra on our mortgage twice to fix the leaking roof and now to extend so only 100,000 equity approx
It will hopefully be worth more after the extension is finished and the plan is to get revalued and remortgage so may be more equity.

Was not supposed to be our 'forever home' when we bought it at all but we've settled in the area, happy with kids school, friends etc so when it came down to thinking of moving up to a 'nicer' place and we couldn't do that and stay local we went for the extension instead.

Bought my first house 1998 for £84k, sold 2004 for £128k (Cambridge).
Bought 2004 for £235k, now worth approx £325k (Devon - still own it, let out)

Still in it. 4.5 years.

It's gained 30k in value ($)

First property, a small newish house bought in 1998 and sold 10 years later £120k profit. Second home bought 2008, a 4 bed. In the first few years dipped in value but now worth over £100k more than we paid.

We've been really lucky to make at least £220k in equity, neither of the homes we're particularly unique and we haven't spent loads other than decorating, maintenance etc. My head tells me we should sell now and move to a bigger house to move up the ladder again but the rest of the family won't agree to it.
