Can you post me a photo? I only know how nice they look when new on the sales literature. Do they need a lot of cleaning? Do you get loads of bird droppings etc?

PanannyPanoo interesting... ours is south facing. But I keep hearing you can't legally put a kitchen in a conservatory so am trying to figure out if we can make it legal without knocking it all down and starting again and without a 'proper' roof.

Our foundations are good, 3m I believe and the extension we already have is half built and with half a proper roof and half the awful polycarbonate

Who has told you? I would ring the planning department direct and ask. I found them and builders regs really helpful. I wouldn't have a kitchen with a glass roof in a south facing conservatory. You won't be able to leave food out. fruit bowl, bread or biscuit bios etc as it will spoil. it will be so hot no matter how reflective your glass is.

My kitchen is in an orangery but faces east. Even then it is quite hot in summer. I don't leave food out. There is no reason why you can't have a kitchen in this type of building. Look at the web sites of high quality manufacturers for ideas. You can have a standard roof with lots of roof lights as an alternative.
