Oil fired Condenser Boiler? any good?

We are in a property without any central heating, so we are trying to get one installed.

Plumber advised a condenser boiler. Has to be oil as no gas.

I had a gas condenser boiler and it gave up really quickly had to be replaced after never really working properly.

I'm a bit hesitant to get a condenser after the issues, but I don't ow anything about oil.

Has anyone got oil central heating and can offer pearls of wisdom?

what was wrong with your previous boiler? Good brands often have guarantees of ten years or more, subject to correct installation and (especially) proper cleaning.

Condensers are more efficient, and have to be made of different materials (often stainless steel) as iron would rust.

I don't know about oil boilers, but I suppose you will have a hot-water cylinder. If your incoming flow is good, or you improve it by renewing the water supply pipe, an unvented cylinder can give unsurpassed showers and quick-filling baths.

I had an oil condensing boiler in my last house, it was brilliant and we never had any trouble with it at all. It was an external one, so sat outside and was connected to a MegaFlo cylinder inside. Plenty of hot water and if was inexpensive to run...I miss it! We now have blasted electric showers in our new property and the bills are through the roof with teenagers constantly showering!

My last gas boiler wasn't fitted very well (I think). It had constant water pressure issues. The water pressure would drop and I had to fiddle with valves to top it up. Then it wouldn't relight. All sorts of issues. I got a new plumber who was really good and replaced all the previous mans work. It really was poor. There was a flue pipe propped up on a block of loose wood. Not the right size pipes. Etc.

Interesting about the water pressure in this house. It's very poor. The plumber did ask regarding the hot water tank. He said we could get a small (something can't remember) but dismissed it when I showed him our poor water pressure.

Good to hear the condenser would be good. Only thing is finding somewhere to put it. It has to be on the floor. Might have to lose a unit/kitchen cupboard to fit it in.
