Are you already boxed up and labelled?
Any pets to consider on the day?
Are you using a removal service or doing it yourself?
Do you only have one day to do it?
Utilities for both properties sorted yet?

I'll think of more Grin

Take photos of gas/electric/water meters.

Get up early and make sure you have everything packed before the new people arrive . (Looking at you previous owners - watching you saunter about as if you had all the time in the world )

CondensedMilkSarnies · 01/06/2017 18:18

Have you arranged for your post to be redirected ?

Utilities is straightforward , just give every company your exit and entry dates. Do you need to organise an exit clean for your rental? Could friends/ family/ a cleaner help you with that to give you more time?

CondensedMilkSarnies · 01/06/2017 18:48

I think I paid £60 for 3 months of redirected mail (extortionate if you ask me )

specialsubject · 01/06/2017 18:52

It costs what it costs.

Need to do -
That redirect
Insurance - buildings if buying, contents
Insurance for car address change
Council tax address change
Set up broadband and phone
Meter readings at both properties
Setup utilities

All else can wait.

Keep your passports & house insurance documents with you, as well as loo rolls and a tea towel. (I speak from experience)

Good luck!

I tend to pack an overnight bag when we move. So change of clothes, makeup, hairbrush, toilet roll, tissues, towel, pens and paper.

I also have the essentials box, kettle, coffee, tea, sugar long life milk, biscuits, mugs teaspoons, phone charger, contact book.

For packing i find veg boxes really good. They stack, they're readily available, they're strong and easy to carry when full. Big boxes seam like a good idea but are a pig to carry full. Even if you've hired removals teams you still end up shifting boxes to the right rooms one end or both!

Several rolls of good quality bin bags are great for bedding, towels, clothes, shoes etc. Tape a note of whats in each one so you can bung them in the right room at the other end.

Mail redirect is £32 for 3 months, £42 for 6 and £60 for 12 months. They needs a few days notice to set it up.

Pack a "weekend" bag for you and the baby.

Dont let it out of yoyr sight on moving day - dont put it in the van. Means if you cba to unpack much you will have the bare essentials to hand.

As a friend or two (with the promise of a takeaway) to assist with unpacking the day of / after at the other end.

Pack and label for the rooms you will have rather than the rooms you currently have. So if you have a living room/diner now but are moving to a house with separate, paack dining room stuff separate and label and same with living room.
