Sinks and cabinets?

When they talk about minimum cabinet size for a sink, does that mean you can't put a sink with drainer across two cabinets? Can I put the drainer of a sink above the washing machine? E.g. This one - www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/eyre/electriq-eyre

No the drainer bit can be over a second cabinet (pretty common IMO) - the 600mm will be needed to accomodate the bowl, pipes etc

it's very common to have the drainer over an appliance. The one you show sits in a cutout in a worktop, so the worktop must be well-supported. If it's not built yet, see if the worktop has to be cut away under the drainer (which will weaken it). If so ask the fitter if it can be raised enough to put a batten under the front edge of the worktop to strengthen it, with another batten fixed to the back wall to support the back of the worktop. One day somebody will stand on it to clean cobwebs off the ceiling or something.

PigletJohn we had pretty much exactly that happen to us - stupid granite worktop installed put a totally unsupported join over our washing machine - just floating.

It lasted less than a week before getting damaged.

Apparently the decorator was meant to float to the corner of the room to paint above the cabinets (not physically accessible without going on the worktop, and blindingly obvious that this was the case!

Thank you StatisticallyChallenged and PigletJohn, that makes sense now that you've explained it and I've slept on it.
