Would you still view other properties once you've had an offer accepted & pull out if you found something you liked more?

We've had an offer accepted and have a buyer for ours. The house we are buying needs alot of work and complete modernisation but we like the space it offers.

I've still been keeping an eye out for houses coming on to the market and have seen one online that has a similar amount of space but looks like it needs much less doing to it. Obviously it would cost more to buy but the thought of having less work to do with a young family is appealing!

Should we view it? My morals tell me it would be so wrong to pull out of a purchase that is underway but it's such a lot of money we have to be certain surely we are getting the best possible house for us.

Has anyone else had experience of this?

Having been in the situation where I was gazumped I would always ensure I put in an offer on a house I fully intended to buy and if what I viewed wasn't right, I would keep looking until I found the right one and only then put in an offer.

If you are going to keep looking at other houses and potentially pull out at least have the decently to let the owner of the house you have put an offer in with know so they can have other viewers looking at it to see if they are more interested than you are (and if that thought appalls you, remember that you are effectively doing exactly the same thing to them but just not bothering to tell them).

It sounds like the first house wasn't necessarily right for you if this other one seems better. What was is about the one you are in the process of buying they made you want it?

Chopping and changing might annoy your buyer, and there will be no comeback if you pull out of the first even if the one you've seen goes wrong...

We went to view another house after having an offer accepted on a different one. However, this was 4+ weeks into our vendor having not found anywhere and we told them we would start looking around again at this point because we are doing whacking great commutes and needed to move sooner to a good house rather than the perfect house. In the end they found the very day we went to look at another, so we are proceeding with the original one and whilst I haven't turned RM alerts off (I like to know what is coming on in case things fall through) I wouldn't go and see anything.

Of course you should go and see it

Of course go and view the other place. It's a massive purchase so it needs to be the best for you and your circumstances.

Others in the chain would do the same, especially if the process isn't too far along.

I think if you are still looking then actually the first place isn't right for you and you should probably pull out anyway

I agree with go and look.

The system in the UK is such that you can't be confident your vendor won't change their mind or accept a higher offer until exchange and even then there are no guarantees until completion.

Integrity lies with letting your vendors know asap if you intend to withdraw your offer.
