BUying the leasehold (2 yr old persimmon new build leasehold)

Hi there, we have a persimmon newbuild which is almost 2 yrs old, all the homes on estate were sold as leasehold. We know we are entitled to buy the leasehold after 2 yrs but unsure of the process. Have also heard horror stories of leases being sold to private companies who ramp up the cost years down the line.
Anyone in the know?

I'd dig out the paperwork and buy it ASAP before it's sold on if I were you. The new build leasehold thing looks like such a huge opportunity for finance companies to exploit people.

There have been problems with prices escalating for the landlord's charges which put buyers off. Go to a solicitor and try and buy the freehold ASAP. There has been a lot of adverse publicity so they may be ok for you to buy it.

I'd definitely follow the advice here and try to buy the freehold as soon as possible. I've just bought a new build and top of my list of essentials, was freehold, because of the publicity about this. You must have a solicitor for this, for me it would be well worth the cost. It will give you the security of knowing you can sell on.

Do you mean the freehold? If so, yes - buy if you possibly can.
