Hotpoint Integrated Washer Dryer BHWD129

Does anyone have one of these? It came brand new with the house and god knows what it thinks it's doing - 2 sheets on a dry only cycle set for iron dry and it's still going after 3 hours. Top of the machine is roasting hot.

Do I (a) get an engineer round; or (b) get shot of it and get something decent? The washer seems OK but the dryer function is terrible - it's already scorched one load, the shortest drying cycle you can set is 40 minutes, and it doesn't seem to have any cool down at the end of the cycle.

Seriously - 3 hours for 2 cotton sheets?

Contact Hotpoint- it could be one of a batch of faulty ones they are going around the country repairing. There have been fires. Find the serial number on the appliance and ring the manufacturer.
I had an indesit dryer (same group of companies) they came round and fixed it for free- as well they should.

Thanks whatabout - will do just that.

Ah, just checked and it's not one of the models affected. It's a brand new one, only fitted a few weeks ago.

Doesn't sound right to me. I have a new Hotpoint washer/dryer, though not integrated, and I'm very happy with it. Washed the bedding at the weekend. I washed a king size pair of sheets with four pillowcases and then split into two loads to dry on iron dry. Each load completely dry after about an hour.
I've been pleasantly surprised with the drying, though I do dry most things on the cotton setting rather than synthetic.

Well it's under guarantee, so I guess the next step is still to contact the manufacturer.

So spoke to the service department, apparently it all sounds normal to them, they can send an engineer but if there's no fault they'll charge £60. Think we'll persevere with it for a while and if we can't work with it get something else.
