Really disappointed to find out the house we fell in love with has had an offer excepted on it today. It's been up for 18 months too. We are not in a posit in at the moment to offer as we are having hell trying to sell our building plots (long story but think restrictions and council) we had buyer lined up and could not proceed (we had out plots up for sale soon as we saw this house) gutted :( its been around 8 weeks since we first sore it. So many things happened and it felt really coincidental (without going into detail) from spotting it to viewing it etc
I thought it may have held out since its been on the market so long and was never a straight forward property to buy (restrictions which we fittedwhen the EA informed us this.morning my heart sank :(
Gutted. Feel heart broken . Feeling stupid too to be do upset over a house!!
Sorry needed to vent.

Flowers That's really rotten for you -it's so tricky when you've mentally moved yourself into a place, and see a home rather than a house. Hope you find something to fill the hole this place has left - what's for you won't go past you, etc.

The same happened to us and it came to us 4 months later.. you never know! If it's meant to be yours it will be.

littlemetalcar · 04/05/2017 14:39

this happened us twice. i was stunned silent for a week or so. we missed out on those two and nothing else came on the market for months that we wanted to buy and our buyers buyers pulled out so we now have no sale. no we have no sale agreed on ours, loads of useful properties are on right move now. we need to get ours on the market again

buying and selling can be very easy for some transactions and very rollercoaster for others. its a total mixed bag and just luck/ co incidence etc,you can do things to assist, price and presentation but its a lot of right place, right time.

Two thoughts:
You'll either find a house you love just as much or more (I did, when two consecutive houses we tried to buy fell through - this one is not detached like the first was, or as quirky as the second, and I was devastated both times - but it's home and I love it and was certainly a better buy than either of the two we lost).
Plus you never know if dream house might yet come back onto the market - it's likely there's a reason it's taken so long to sell.
Don't despair... if it's meant to be...

I was gutted when I was outbid on my first home. I was absolutely gutted and felt like the earth had caved in. But literally a week later another that was even better came up and I go at it! I think the right one will come up for you and you'll be delighted with it.

TheDogsMother · 04/05/2017 16:39

Exactly the same happened to us and we were also extremely gutted. Several weeks later just when we were about to give up on moving because we couldn't find anything else the original EA phoned up to say the house was available again. We were on the brink of taking ours off the market but then pulled out the stops, had the conveyance and move from hell and here we are. You never know, it might come back on particularly if there are quirks or restrictions with it. Flowers

I've missed out on a few houses, a better one always comes along.

Have faith. 😊 You'll look back on this and say thank god!!

We lost out on one we loved, had had offer accepted, waited around for the sellers to dither about for 4 months and then decide the husband didn't really want to move after all and take it off the market. We live in a small village and wanted to stay so the pool to choose from really isn't very big. Just as we lost that one, another one came on the market around the corner, same house essentially just needed more doing. We're in it now, and it's much better than the original one!

Thank you. Trying to forget about it but I can't help it! Get a horrible sinking feeling knowing it's gone :( I don't want to wish the purchasers bad luck but I do really hope it comes available.....The EA even said nothing is guarenteed to do through and it's not uncommon for it to fall through. They have my number. This was so perfect absolutely idillic with land etc and so affordable due to the restriction. Anything similar in the area is almost twice the price .. :(

This happened with the house when I was buying the house I'm currently selling. I'd made an offer that was rejected so I was frantically trying to save more money and then the house sold. I was gutted. But 2 weeks later it was back on the market and they accepted my offer.

I put the house on the market as a house I loved came up for sale. There was two of us that wanted the house and the other people sold theirs first so I missed out. I left my house on the market but couldn't find anything I liked. Then I had an offer on my place of the price I wanted. I ended up finding a house that is so much better than the first one and, fingers crossed, we move in 3 weeks!

Hurraahhnaptime · 05/05/2017 12:13

I guess I would want a garden that wraps around the house or end terrace. Three double bedrooms and a larger kitchen with a big old wooden table in it.

I don't mind sofa beds/ moving people around for guests.

My priority is how the house feels. That it is comfortable and feels warm and light.

I think location matters most to me and a quiet street (not an A road)
