Plantation Shutters - moving house?

I'm preparing to move house and have been filling in the fixtures and fittings form sent by the solicitor, and wondering what people do about plantation shutters? They are fitted to a bay window and are only a couple of years old - but as they were quite expensive my DH thinks we should either ask for payment towards them or take them with us - like you do for curtains. Is it a faff to remove them though?

I don't want to seem unreasonable, but it is likely we could get them installed in our new house. Thoughts?

Eek. I just got the f&f form from our sellers & they want to charge for the shutters & everything else! It's not you is it OP?

Nope, not me. I threw them in to our buyers as a freebie Smile

@Haree send them a link to this thread! More seriously - say you aren't paing for them and you trust if they are removing them they will make good all the holes and decoration. Or say you were expecting them to be part of the house - and you are reducing your offer by [x] amount.

What total petty tight arses.

It is part of the house so anyone with shutters should just accept that.
Quite.

I know, I'm a little bit miffed. It's an expensive property & the shutters are only in one room on one bay window. They also want to charge for carpets. A few of the bedrooms have cream fairly new looking carpet (I have 3 kids, cream carpets are not really very us, but would have been happy not to have to think about carpets straight away) but the H/S/L have worn looking carpets which I had presumed they would leave (& we would replace at our leisure) but they want to charge for. I left everything including a big American fridge & fitted blinds at the house we just sold. They were no use to me & a PIA to get rid of. It never occurred to me to charge for them. Confused

& OP I bet they loved you for that. Good karma to take to your new home.

I can't believe that anyone would charge for shutters. I always leave made to measure curtains too. It's just so tight, I am amazed that some try and charge for carpets too.

The house that we recently bought had some light fittings removed which had not been made good and replaced with a basic plastic ceiling rose, other than that we have been quite lucky.

@Harree are the vendors quite old? Like over 60? I think this kind of thing was much more common 30 years ago. Honestly, people who try and charge for carpets need to get in the real world.

IMO all flooring be it new or old carpet, or laminate or real wood should be reflected in the overall condition and offer price.

@Kokusai yes I think they probably are around that age. That makes me feel a little better that they're not just tight-arses
