Buildings insurance question

We started a claim in February with our buildings insurance as we had burst pipes under our floors.

Insurance company has been excellent and although it's taken a while they have sorted the issue and dried us out.

We are 1 of 4 in a line of terrace houses.

Turns out the other 3 houses have issues with their pipes (old Victorian plumbing) and 2 doors down has started a claim with their insurance company.

Have just received a message from them asking for our insurance details as their insurer has asked for them so they can get in contact and discuss the issues that were found at our property.

For some reason this is making me nervous.

Is this normal? Should I pass over details?

Why don't you ring your insurer and ask their advice? Insurance companies do share information so may be in contact behind the scenes anyway, I don't know. Your neighbour shouldn't be able to get any information about your claim himself though due to data protection - surely all that is needed is the name of your insurer?

Called my insurer this afternoon and they said the only reason the other company would need to get in contact would be if they thought their issues were caused by us

Sounds like they suspect the issues are from your house and want to make a claim. If you don't want to give them details, they can make a claim directly against you and then you can pass it on to your insurance company.
