Best range cooker?

I've finally given up on my idea of an Aga and think I really need a fab range cooker instead. I was thinking of a Lacanche Macon but reviews seem a bit mixed. Anyone got one they can comment on? Or any other recommendations?

I have a Stoves with induction hob. Not a cheap purchase but as far as I'm concerned it was cheaply made.

Control knobs are pretty cheap plastic and they fly off due to the tension springs behind (so I've had to remove the bloody springs) and they mark easily.

On a plus note I love the boost setting as the stuff being heated comes up to boil so quickly, the induction top is so easy to keep clean and the fan ovens are good as well.

On a negative note they don't supply a handle for the grill pan but will happily charge you more than it's worth if you look at buying one.

And finally they do my head in with their repeated mail shots about extending the frigging warranty. On one occasion I had two letters arrive at the same time Angry

I will probably look at alternatives if I need to buy another.

My husband works for a posh kitchen business. From all the feedback from customers and kitchen designers we are going with an Everhot.

I have a Falcon dual fuel and love it. I have never had any of those issues mentioned by other posters. It feels so well built and it has been very reliable (my Victoria sponge turns out perfect every time). It doesn’t have all the gadgets and gizmos of other cookers, but I’ve had those in previous cookers and never used them, which is why I went for this one.

whats the deal with range cookers? Is there any prackticle reason to buy on over a modern oven/hob? I think they look ugly and will age quite badly once out of fashion.
