Units Online and DIY Kitchens

I'm just wondering whether anyone has looked at both of these companies? I know that DIY Kitchens gets good reviews on here but the principle of Units Online look similar and they also provide a planning service. Are the units similarly priced? I had a quick browse and Units Online seemed more expensive but I'm not sure if I was comparing like for like.

Any info greatly appreciated!

You need to send each the same plan and ask for similar styles so you truly can compare like for like .

Diy kitchens do their own brand door which are cheaper. They both do second nature , although units online offer a wider selection as well as other brands.

I think they are pretty much the same when comparing like for like, but you can do your own check. There are some differences in service, units online offer any depth for cupboards and appear to be more approachable about bespoke units. Diy kitchens have the cheaper in house innova range , offer bespoke colours and also do worktops.

I haven't used either yet, but am leaning towards units online.

I have used both. Bought a DIY kitchen (Luca Matt White) about 2.5 years ago with the intention of re-using it and adding to it when we had an extension. By the time we'd had the extension, wanted a more traditional style and wanted a particular feature on the doors and couldn't get that from DIY - so went with Units Online (have a Burbidge kitchen).

There was a big difference in cost (units online more expensive) - due in some respects to more units and that Units Online kitchen has solid wood doors.

Agree with pp that Units Online were geared up for bespoke options (I had 2 bespoke doors) and the customer service was brilliant. Tony who I dealt with would email / call me within a couple of hours of emailing to answer queries, nothing was too much trouble both before and after ordering. I asked an awful lot of questions, sent him photos of what i wanted, upteen emails. DIY Kitchens usually took a few days to respond to emails and weren't (at the time) able to offer anything beyond the norm. I got the impression DIY Kitchens were massive and I rarely spoke to the same person twice. At Units Online, I felt like they offered almost a personal service.

I know this is an old thread but we have the same question and wondered which option you went with in the end, muckylittlepaws?

We have a very tight budget so it might have to come down to price but would love to hear others thoughts and experience.

sorenipples did you go with units online in the end?

We had a gloss white DIY kitchen (small galley) in our present stepping-stone house in 2015 but are moving to our forever home and will go with a more traditional Shaker style, and really need to get it right but not blow the entire renovation budget on the kitchen!

Its worth looking at onlinekitchensuk.co.uk as these where cheaper than Units Online and offered the same door ranges. I found the staff to be really helpful after asking them to make over 10 changes to my design. They also sent me all the plans which i did not have to pay for up front.

I tried getting a quote from the online kitchens uk company but there was no alterations but units online service with every alteration was great mainly at no extra cost, i was dealing with Tony, he even made me a special non standard height for all the wall cupboards.
I was looking at the first company for price but when the quote came they were only £220 cheaper which units online matched with their matching price offer.
I had a delay on a few damaged doors which Russell sorted and kept me updated and i had the original damaged door to use while waiting for the new ones.
My friend ordered a DIY kitchen and had to send it back so that why i didn't get a quote from them.

can i ask has anyone looked into the financial pedigree of all three companies ?

Mixmag · 20/02/2020 20:29

What do you mean? I'm intrigued!

MissingCoffeeandWine · 03/02/2021 21:25

Has anyone any recent experiences with these companies? Specifically units online or online kitchens Uk? Thanks a mill, k

Nope. I used DIY and was amazed and how simple it was and the quality of the units. Many things will have changed since the thread was created.
