Do you / have you live(d) in one?

We are viewing one tomorrow, with garage, utility and spare room / study on the ground floor, living, dining and kitchen on the first and bedrooms and family bathroom on the second. Wondering about the practicalities / impracticalities.

I have one and do find it a little inconvenient on occasion with DD (17m) and we do go up and down the stairs a lot, but I wouldn't sell up, I love it too much.
Our layout is
G: garage, loo, utility, kitchen diner
1: family bathroom, double bedroom /study, living room
2: master bedroom and en suite, double bedroom 2, single bedroom, shower room .
The key points which make it work for us are the toilets on every floor and the large kitchen diner.
We're on a hill and have stairs down to the garden too so the inside/outside living is a bit limited as there's a balcony off the living room and a small patio off the kitchen leading to the garden stairs.

I live in a townhouse and have done for 15 years.
We have the garage and kitchen/diner on the ground floor, lounge with balcony, bathroom and small bedroom on the 1st floor and 2 large bedrooms on the 2nd floor.
Sometimes I hanker after a more conventional layout but you get used to it. Also as someone up thread mentioned, you generally get more house for your money.

I love mine. It feels very spacious and now my kids are older it's good that they have their own floor with their bedrooms and bathroom. They were very small when we moved in but that was never a problem.

We are now planning to move the kitchen downstairs so we can connect better with the garden. The layout of the house means that several rooms can be used for different things so our old kitchen space will become a new bedroom etc. That's the advantage of not having a traditional upstairs and downstairs layout which I now find a bit boring.
The views are also wonderful Smile
