commute from Crayford to Greenwich

Hello,
DH works in Canary Wharf, and we live in Bournemouth because I work in Bournemouth. I get a job offer from Greenwich uni, so we will move to London. We have searched the threads, and find two areas that would suit our needs (e.g., good state schools, ds is 4.)

  1. Greenwich: working distance to work, good school, can only afford 1/2 bed flat.
  2. Crayford: 1 hour commute for both, good schools, can afford 3/4 bed house.

Does anyone have experience living in these two areas, are they good for family? The second option, how is the commute, we plan to use trains.

Thanks!

You could also live somewhere like Hither Green, Ladywell or Catford. Good buses to Greenwich and bus or walk to Lewisham for DLR to Canary Wharf.

They are cheaper than Greenwich (Catford especially) but more expensive than Crayford.

Dear mums,
Thanks for all helpful advices. We finally decided a house and will move in next week :-)

The house is between New Eltham station and Dulverton primary. We made a late application for DS to Dulverton, but now it has no space. Anyone knows Our lady Catholic school? we are told there is still space there. Is it generally good? It is a bit far, we will need to drive DS to school, how is the traffic during school time, both DH and I need to commute to Greenwich/Canary Wharf for work every day.

Does anyone know Dulverton primary, is it possible to have space in Year R or 1 if we are on the waiting list? Thanks!!
