Someone help me with my fridge freezer dilemma pleeeaaassseeeee

Just had a new kitchen and had cupboards built around so as to frame the American fridge freezer
So I ordered one and it came and stuck out loads (It was 74cm deep) sent it back and ordered a shallower one (69cm) which came this minding and it sticks out even more than the first one!

If anyone else has this design in your kitchen which fridge freezer do you have and how deep are your cupboards?

Ps why doesn't someone design a shallower fridge freezer, they'd make a bloody fortune, I've seen lots of people online in this predicament

Will it not need to stick out a bit so you can open the doors properly (unless you've factored that into the width of the fridge / freezer space)?

If you have factored that gap in, can your kitchen fitters move the housing units forward?

I think they do just stick out a long way - we have ours in a corner, at the end of a run of cupboards so although it sticks out it doesnt look wierd as the wall is the other side of it. I'm assuming its too late to rejig the cupboards a bit?

Otherwise, what if you got a Smeg FF with nice rounded edges? Might look a bit better. Don't understand why a supposedly shallower one would be deeper tho?

I knew it had to stick out a bit to open, I just didn't realise it would stick out quite so much
The cupboards are 60 deep so a whole 14cm just seems an unnecessary amount to me

I think some of the glossy magazine pictures with flush appliances are probably using integrated models - like this one and this one that are 61 cm deep. Or the cabinets have been designed to project further from the wall.

We've just bought an aeg perfect fit fridge freezer for this exact reason. It's wider but shallow than other American fridge freezers. Sadly it was also twice the price, but necessary to make our layout work.

14cm - ours is going to stick out by much more once our kitchen is done.

Can you bring forward the surrounding cabinetry and Infill it at the rear ?

Our kitchen was only finished two weeks ago and I bailed on our pre-ordered American FF at the last moment and decided to re-site the FF into a 'dead' corner which was not big enough for an American FF or deep enough for a regular tall FF.

We took a trip to Currys to cancel the FF and found this very rare beast - A FF that's only 60cm deep.

It doesn't look particularly stylish, but it's 70cm wide and takes a lot of food, it's solid and well-designed and we're really pleased with it.

I deliberately didn't have a cabinet around mine for this very reason, they never look right. Mine is free-standing, very plain and looks fine.

Those integrated ones are lovely!
