Anaglypta wallpaper - am I mad?

I have a Victorian house and I'm thinking of putting a dado rail and anaglypta under it in the hall, up the stairs and on the landing.

I would paint the paper in a darker shade of the wall above. Probably light grey or maybe a pale blue. I might put white on top. It's a dark space.

Is this madness? Are people still scraping this stuff off walls?

Sorry I couldn't post before because of the page reloading issue for Safari and my posts were getting eaten. Those are some lovely photos.

I've got cold feet about the leaf print but I really like the lincrusta style panels and I have grey blue paint that would look lovely and light. The sample I got didn't show me enough detail because it was an odd place to take a cut but I might order some more and piece them together :)
