I have just been quoted £1650 pounds for laying a patio with indian sandstone 12m2. Am i right in thinking thats too much ? We are in Hampshire

Is that just laying it or including the stone, has the area got to be prepared aswell?

Providing the stones as well and removing exosting patio . Am an expat so i have no idea how much labour costs here. It just seemed like a high price

Labour for removal, a big skip. Prepare base. Supply stone, sand and cement. A good resin based jointing compound and a good outdoor sealer. Sounds fair to me to be honest.

I think it sounds reasonable too.

You're welcome Smile

I think that's not too wildly off - I've been looking around and it seems that even cheaper paving ends up costing a fair bit over 100/sq m all in.

I was going to have Indian Sandstone for my Patio as it looks so fabulous I'm the catalogue. My landscaper showed me pictures of it a few years down the line in various gardens. He advised against it as It marks very easily because it is so porous. Price sounds right to me.

I would get 2 more quotes.

Can you ask neighbours?

I paid about £2000 to have my very small garden done - it was 50/50 lawn to Indian sandstone patio, but the breakdown of the costs were over 75/25 in terms of the patio being the most expensive bit. Sounds about right, assuming they are a decent company who will take care laying it.
