Bt telephone exchange 2 doors away

We are looking to buy a house that is situated 2 doors from a bt telephone exchange. Does any one know if this is an issue?

In what way do you think it might be an issue?

We had really fast internet speeds when we lived that close!

Echo what MrBenn said. Our speed is awful because we are a long way away - yours will be super!

You may have a problem getting super fast broadband, if the house is fed directly from the exchange.

To clarify, you may be able to get faster than normal copper broadband, but won't be able to get super fast (BT Infinity or Sky fibre for example) if the property is fed directly from the exchange.

Apart from the fact you probably will have an eyesore to gaze upon, why would it be an issue?

Not known for their architectural aesthetic are they?

The one up the road from us is a beautiful building. Honestly.

And we have BT Infinity. Works fine.

I live next door to a telephone exchange.
There's a lot less comings and goings by engineers than there is of an average family if you are worried about works.

And they never have loud parties or steal your wheelie bins.

DH would be very jealous. He has based a lot of our previous moves on distance from the exchange

Round here they are all hideous 60s boxes with flat rooves and lots of pebbledash.

Radiation?? Pretty sure they would not be built or kept in residential areas if that was a risk.

We have one a few doors away. It's just a little brick building that has BT vans outside it every so often. Barely notice it.

As far as I know, BT do not use nuclear reactors to power their exchanges.

Super fast broadband because it is faster the closer you are to the exchange or the green box. We bought our house partially based on proximity to the green box.

Hopefully the op is not that daft, although many are . The worst tinfoil hatters are usually those with their brickphone permanently in their hands.

Doesn't always work that you get superfast broadband if you live very close to the exchange - friends live almost opposite the local exchange and their internet speeds are dire.

Which bit would the radiation come from?

Are you thinking of electromagnetic fields around electricity substations? Some people have concerns about that, but telephone exchanges aren't the same.
