Window restrictors

We have new upvc windows and I'd like to get window restrictors fitted upstairs so I'm not worrying about the dc being in a room alone with a window open.

But I'm finding it quite hard. I definitely need one which is easily removable for fire reasons, but would also ideally like one which doesn't need to be drilled in.

Does anyone have knowledge of this mythical window restrictor, as so far it's eluding me!

This is interesting to me as one of the things I hate most about my present (hinged) windows is that they are either closed or fully wide open. I would like to fit new sashes that could be left open a crack (at night etc) without worrying that someone could climb in.

I've been googling this as we had new double glazed sash windows and somehow they got ordered without restrictors.

I've narrowed it down to probably these Rola stops, they are a bit chunky but theoretically removable for fire escape, but not removable by child .

For new upvc windows, go back to the supplier. Ours have a kind of concealed clip that only lets the window open a few inches, but you push the end of it and it releases a hook for full opening.

some hinges have a restrictor built in, on the friction stay at the bottom. Or there might be a handle with a ventilation position.

Find your local plastic-window-and-plastic-door-repairwo/man (there will be one) by recommendation, and see what s/he suggests.

Thanks so much for feedback. I stupidly hadn't thought of going back to the supplier, so I'll give them a call.

We do have the ventilation lock handles so if all else fails, that will be a help, but come summer I'd love it if I could l leave the window open a couple of inches without worrying about leaving the dc in the room alone.
