Tiny wee London Flat thread.

I love looking at tiny but beautiful London flats. I have no real idea why as I have no desire to live in one. Not all are tiny wee.
Here are some I have found today:

More than £2million for a studio flat? Shock it's beautiful and in South Ken, but still ... Shock

RedBugMug · 04/03/2017 22:47

they look very princessy to me. surely they are just crashpads for gentry mp's who regularly spend some time in london.

MollyHuaCha · 04/03/2017 22:48

The first one is so kitsch and cluttered it made me feel a bit sick. I prefer simpler decor.

But the second one had a long corridor - looked like something out of a Victorian asylum Shock

I know what you mean. I am enchanted by the idea of tiny homes where everything you need is cleverly fitted into mezzanines etc. Unfortunately I am a massive hoarder with a book-buying addiction.

Pipbin · 04/03/2017 22:50

I'm not saying I actually like them, I just love looking at them, and then being grateful that I could by a three bed semi with parking and a garden for £160k

They aren't actually that tiny either. I thought you meant studios where the bed doubled as the sofa and there was a one ring hob but those are all a really good size! The average 1 bed flat is 500sq ft, and the second link you've posted is over 1300sq ft.

I do love the first one though.

GimbleInTheWabe · 04/03/2017 22:53

I love that you define those places as 'tiny'! My 1 bed London flat is 44sq m and I wouldn't even say this is tiny. Then again it's def not worth over the £1mill mark.. not even close! Love the places you picked out though OP

Yellowmono · 04/03/2017 23:00

The last one in the OP has no bed? The floor plan says living room/bedroom but there's no bed!

Look at this one! www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-58138385.html
Designed by architect Caiano Morgado. It apparently has ample storage! And you can see Harrods. I love the optimistic double place settings.

I started with the big and expensive ones. I agree that the first ones aren't really tiny as such

OP posts:
Pipbin · 04/03/2017 23:05

That last one was 12 square meters. now that is properly tiny.

OP posts:
peukpokicuzo · 04/03/2017 23:11

The last one on the 2nd list is pretty small at 26 Sq.m but not as tiny as the flats in this article. I really like the innovative design in #6 (86 Sq ft = 8 Sq.m)

I love a good Rightmove perve at "how the other half live", thank you @Pipbin!

Haha yep that last one is deffo tiny! And almost half a mil Shock i like it but t does make me feel a bit claustrophobic looking at it.

Pipbin · 04/03/2017 23:17

Hmmm, I live in a flat that is 30sq meters. I know, I'll fill it with everything I've ever seen:

That isn't the bed on the shelf above the kitchen is it? I'm assuming you have to crawl in and out of it. Oh my lord! Do people actually pay hundreds of thousands of pounds to do that?

Pipbin · 04/03/2017 23:32

I couldn't quite work that out. There seemed to be some kind of pull down ladder, like a loft ladder but I couldn't work out if it was just for storage.

peukpokicuzo · 05/03/2017 05:54

The "virtual tour" from the estate agent is nothing but a 360 shot of the road in front of the building. Labelled "reception room". Obviously very clearly saying 'we wouldn't expect anyone to attempt to live here, you are just paying for the address'

Having a loft bed on a platform above the kitchen/shower/entranceway is usually a design feature I consider stylish and clever - but is normally in very high ceilinged rooms so that the clearance on the platform is at least 4 or 5 feet, sometimes more. That one might not even be as much as 3 feet. Ughh.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 05/03/2017 06:12

That 30 sqm one is actually a good buy as you also get parking which is worth ££££ s in itself!

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 05/03/2017 12:04

Would you own a car if you lived there?

I also notice that in the write up it talks about 'escaping London at the weekend'. I thought that London was the only place worth being.....? That's what all the I love London threads say anyway.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 05/03/2017 12:15

yes you might own a car there-no reason why not, but more importantly you could rent it out and where has anyone said London is the be all and end all?

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 05/03/2017 12:42

There are lots and of threads on MN where people say how much they love London and they couldn't live anywhere else, which is fine and up to them.

Anyway. I don't want this to get into a London verses 'the provinces' thread.
