www.rightmove.co.uk/s6p/5814948Any help appreciated, should I buy this house? I'm scared about the mortgage, we'd be doubling our borrowing, went to view last night. I'd want to knock the kitchen and diner into one eventually.
Please pick it apart for me wise MN!

Thank you all so much for your feedback.
Newport us "on the up" as it's sandwiched between 2 unaffordable cities, Cardiff and Bristol, and there are lots of people moving in from both cities, so really it's our last chace to buy a 4 bed before prices go beyond our means (keeping an eye on house prices has become something of an obsession!), so albeit a plain looking house I think we'll go for it Grin

Gosh it seems quite nice to me. The exterior, how about painting it navy blue? could look fab.

Is it non-standard construction? Something about those brick pillars at the corners and the rendered walls worries me, I'd want to know a bit more about it's construction before I went much further or you could find it would be unmortgageable.

The gable end wall is brick, but worth double checking construction type. It's not that ugly and you could paint the pebbledash if you find it really offensive.

No chain is a big plus - may be open to a quick deal?

It's not beautiful but it's certainly not ugly either ... a porch to break up the front would help and I'd paint the pebble dash a pale colour. Have a look round at what others have done for ideas.

It's a lot of house and well laid out.

Rendered and painted white would look lovely
I'd go for it.
Heaven only knows how my cousins got such a fab flat for under £200k at the knap. Right on the Bristol Channel
Lucky b. She has the most amazing views

I think you could make that house look amazing...my big worry would be the fact your dh isn't on board.

Going against flow and say I like outside and inside. Wish I could find a house that size for that price where I live (Hampshire) be in there like a shot lol

End of day only time you will see outside is when entering/exiting house, otherwise your inside

I like it too.
