Kiroro, thank you for your kind words and comments. We will be amending the plans accordingly...

Bigredboat, it will be a kitchen dinner. There is more room as you are looking away from the window but there is a wall dividing the kitchen and the rest of the room at the moment so the scale is not accurate. We would like to extend the house in future so this kitchen is just temporarily one... And thank you, I hope the colours will be nice in real as well :-)

I prefer the island one and I think you could put a big fridge where the oven is and have a built under oven instead. Are you set on a breakfast bar? I'm having a peninsular thing in my new kitchen but I'm going to have cupboards both sides to increase storage. In the first design I feel like the breakfast bar bit is too close to the hob.

PigletJohn, thank you, I will look into it. I think that Ikea is doing something like that...

If you're extending in the next couple of years aren't you just throwing away £10k by getting a new kitchen now?

ver0ver0 · 31/01/2017 21:30

I know AppleAndBlackberry :-( you should see my kitchen at the moment...it is 1970's falling apart one that has not been used for the last 10 years before we bought the house (Sept 2016). It is really bad and we do desperately need a new one...we don't even have a proper hob and oven at the moment :-(

Wow, user1469117700...these look amazing... That's exactly how I was imagining it after all the fantastic advise I've received from this thread... :-)

Is that tiny fridge going to be your only one, or are you going to have another one, elsewhere?

Also make sure that hob is an induction hob, rather than saving a couple of quid (because the difference in price is small, these days) on a halogen hob. It's just much safer if people are going to be sitting near it at the breakfast bar. If you have young kids, I would re-think having that as a seating area, completely. You have plenty of space for a table in there.

Thanks,
Ths is my job and kind of ticks most the boxes for you.
I dont think howdens would be able to replicate this due to the wall unit depths and extractor unit but gives you an idea of what can be if you have a built under oven or 2

PickAChew · 31/01/2017 21:46

I disagree with others about the oven, though. My days of tolerating bending down to get things in and out of the oven are numbered. I dream of having one at eye level. You also don't want to sacrifice too much storage space to make it all look pretty.

ver0ver0 · 31/01/2017 21:53

PickAChew, it will have to be the only one in the kitchen for a time being as there is nowhere to put the big one. We could have another small one in the utility if necessary...
We will definitely go for the induction hob.
Yes, I have 2 small kids...I will think about it and might actually move the hob as User1469110077 suggests. Thank you for your advice...

PickAChew, I had an eye level oven in our previous house and I prefer it to the lower one. But I think I have to make a compromise at the moment and bend for hopefully not too long :-)

A built in larder cupboard already there is a great asset! It sounds like you are homing in on a solution.
I would look for an oven with telescopic slide out shelves which will make the lifting much easier, and get pull out inner drawers/wire baskets in your base units too if you don't like bending down. Cost only a few pounds but really make the most of your space.
