Can our neighbours dictate our builder's working hours?

We're due to start on an extension and the Party Wall Award has just been completed. However, the award mentions construction and noise times- these aren't the same as our builder's hours.

Our builder wants to work between 8-6pm on weekdays and 8-3pm on Saturdays. The times that have been specified within the Party Wall Award are between 8:30- 5pm on weekdays and 8:30- 1pm on Saturdays. I know it's not a huge difference but it's a big project and these hours will add up over 8 months. I think our neighbours have requested these hours, as when they objected to our planning permission they mentioned that they wanted noise to be kept to a minimum.

Our council website used to specify construction times, but I can't find this on the website any more. I'm pretty sure our builder's hours are in line with what used to be on the council website. Does anyone know if there is anything we can do? Or do we have to go with what is on the Award?

Thanks

If I was your neighbour I would be pretty pissed off at 7 hours of CONSTANT BLOODY NOISE every Saturday for 8 months from 8am to 3pm. Thats going to make summer BBQs fun for them!

I had 6 weeks of listening to my neighbours doing their house up. They worked 8 to 6 during the week and 8am to 12 every Saturday . They would get there at 7.15am and unload all their stuff for the day so every Saturday there was no lie in for me as they started making noise from around 7.15 onwards. I then had to listen to drilling/ hammering/ cement mixing etc that goes on for 4 hours. On my day off. Do you know how that makes someone feel? Like killing someone.

Wasn't just me it affected either, was everyone around us. We were just very very grateful it was only for 6 weeks...

I'm glad you're not my neighbour! You don't seem to be considering the impact on them at all, it is all about what you want. You should be thinking along the lines of how best you can get what you want doing without impacting too much on your neighbours. Will you be living in the property whilst the work is being done?

I think it is so sad there isn't a single ounce of consideration for your neighbours in your post. Only yourself and what is good for you!
Your neighbours clearly objected to the work happening at all! Once you have got the planning permission they pretty much have no choice but to agree to the party wall agreement. So against all what they want you just want to impose more hours or dust and noise onto them. You probably have hidden behind council officials and surveyors the whole time and never actually gone to your neighbours to discuss a compromise. Yet they have 8 months plus of dirt and noise not possibly enjoying their home or their garden in quite the same way and this is your point of view. If you were my neighbour I would not be friendly towards you.

There has been building work in our building since November, following those hours. OP, it’s utterly miserable! There’s never any peace whatsoever and our home is more of an exceptionally noisy prison. Those changes to hours seem really small OP - maybe think about the potentially misery you’re inflicting.

Zombie thread!! The OP has hopefully finished the work in the last 2.5 years, either that or the neighbour has taken drastic action on them!
