Help!! I have fallen in love and it's not good. Our bathroom is being planned now and all items are being bought this month. I can't get these out of my head! What to do?...(Link below).

It's a Victorian House and will have a large shower enclosure, freestanding bath and vanity unit. Large plain porcelain tiles in the shower and behind the bath (up to shelf height 1.2m) 12×12ft room.

Just tell me I'm out of my mind....

Do it! Something to make your heart sing when you get a early morning shower

Herschellmum · 07/01/2017 21:52

They are amazing! I want them, the husband even likes them! Too expensive for me to do all of the bathroom but perhaps feature areas.

Seriously if you can afford it, get them and take a photo for us all when it's done! 😀

Celaena · 07/01/2017 21:57

"They're lovely. But are they really 36 quid per tile?? They're all different sizes confused"

haha - oh thats awesome! what if you only got the small ones??? (i think you get them in a 'collection' type tile)

SeasickCrocodile · 07/01/2017 22:00

Get em if they make your heart sing. The world doesn't need another beige bathroom .....but at that price range you're into Ann Sacks and now those are some beautiful tiles

BellMcEnd · 07/01/2017 22:04

We've got them! But as a small basin splash back in the downstairs loo.

I love them. I was like you: I just had to have them. They've been up a couple of years now and I still stroke them lovingly Blush

They are quite vivid though: they could easily become very over powering and migraine inducing. As PP have said, a strip around the bathroom would be lovely but be cautious in using loads!

MyHairNeedsASnip · 07/01/2017 22:04

Get them, even if you only do one wall. Don't like the idea of a thin strip, the impact comes from a full wall.

MonsterChopz · 07/01/2017 22:06

Beautiful, but think of all that grout to clean.

Celaena · 07/01/2017 22:27

i wouldnt like a strip either - i think you need a full wall (i so would if i could afford it)

Herschellmum · 07/01/2017 22:34

Wow Bell ... feel up to sharing a photo? Sounds inspiring for OP (and me😍)

Jermajesty · 07/01/2017 23:12

They are fabulous, I can see why you love them! Could you put them in the shower instead of the porcelain ones?

flumpybear · 08/01/2017 05:10

Do you get a work discount at any tile ships by any chance? The NHS have staff discounts in CTD.... possibly other places, don't suppose you work for them do you ?

PitilessYank · 08/01/2017 05:14

Gorgeous, but will the look be consistent with the rest of the house, given that it is a Victorian house?

I say spend more for something you adore! Hey, that rhymes!

Notyetthere · 08/01/2017 06:47

Get them! They are gorgeous. I wouldn't even bother with a strip; you need a whole wall to create the same impact. It is your home and you should enjoy everything in it.

Marmitelover55 · 08/01/2017 08:24

I really want them too! Go for it Grin

BetsyM00 · 08/01/2017 13:23

I love them too, except for the price!

Maybe try www.mosaicheaven.com/ for something similar but cheaper.

Mackonadragos · 08/01/2017 17:24

Hi,

I think they are interesting, but possibly a bit overwhelming after a while. I would call it opulent (I hope I understand this English word correctly). It gives me a sort of exotic atmosphere.

I would never use plain white tile in combination with the peacock tiles. I would pick out one colour of the peacock tiles , preferably a more calming one, such as grey (or the one you like the most) and use this colour as a main colour of your bathroom. Either in the form of other tiles (but need to match in style to the peacock) or just in the form of paint. So you would have a harmonious colour scheme with your peacock tiles, which I would use as a feature. In this way you would still create the atmosphere, but in a cheaper way.

Also, I would not use white grout, but a slightly darker one, and I think white bathroom suits almost certainly will kill your wall. The question is, are there any bathroom suits that are nice, exotic looking but not white?

AddictedtoLovely · 08/01/2017 17:25

Love them

RNBrie · 08/01/2017 17:27

I love them. Have you seen the topps tiles shanghai chocolate ones? They are my favourite mosaics, we very nearly had them in our new bathroom but they didn't go with my dream floor tiles. Gah.

Tiredbuthappy1970 · 08/01/2017 18:28

We recently bought floor tiles from tilemountain.co.uk. We ordered loads of different samples, most were free but there was a small charge for the more expensive tiles. Samples and order arrived quickly. If they don't have the tiles you like online they might be able to get them. They were a lot cheaper than any store and although we were cautious about using an online supplier, I couldn't fault them.

Bluebolt · 08/01/2017 22:13

They are beautiful, I have them in panels either side of my French doors in my conservatory (20 cm each side). They are great if you can position for natural sunlight to bounce off. If I spent that much in the bathroom I would probably position in a space that didn't get wet. Got the tiler to get as was having floor done at the same time so bought trade.

Earlgreywithmilk · 08/01/2017 22:16

I don't like them but if u do get them I think the 'doing a strip' thing is a bit dated, the whole point of a tile like that would be for the impact of the colours so u would need a largish space imo

Absolutely not in a Victorian bathroom. They would be especially bad used as a strip which will date.

They are gorgeous but so modern.

irregularegular · 31/03/2017 11:30

I quite like them. Would need to be a whole wall for impact - not just a strip.

However I suspect they be more trendy than timeless (sorry)

Kiroro · 31/03/2017 11:54

Ooooh they would be amazing done as a whole wall (or two) in a darkish internal bathroom in a super trendy flat :-)
