Anyone got a snug?

Interested to see photos for ideas if you're willing to share?

We're thinking of adding an extension, part of which would be an extension to the hall. I think it would be nice to use it as a snug but I don't know anyone with one!

Ps. Having googled I should mention, it won't be an extra room, just one end of the hall.

What do you mean by a snug? Somewhere to sit and read or watch tv or somewhere to store things?

Somewhere quiet and comfy to read, no TV but potentially with book storage.

We have a snug off our hall and it works really well. I'll see if I can post a pic.

No but I would love one! It would absolutely have to have a log burner though

Ooh Tatey that's lovely! I love the wood panelling. Stylistically, this is how I'm imagining it!

We won't have space for a fire sadly, it's only going to be around 2.5 x 2 metres. Space for a comfy seat, shelves, possibly some artwork? Really early days of thinking about it, hence looking for ideas.

My friend has one quite a decent size similar to this in decor but it has a fancy partial glassroof so let's a lot of natural light in during the day. She has a lot of chairs with different fabrics which shouldn't go together but it does. It's a lovely room.

Ours is a bit like that in that we have different fabrics on a small sofa, and two chairs round the fire and it works really well. We have a large stone mullioned window so that lets in loads of light too.

Do you think it would be a warm enough area to sit in? I have a big hallway, with radiators each end, but there isn't any area I would consider snug.

I would think a snug-by definition-is a small cosy room. A bigger hall wouldn't make a snug.

Try searching for 'reading nook' on Google or Pinterest. These are small spaces rather than whole rooms incorporating book shelves and somewhere to sit and read.

I have a self made one, it's lovely, kids love it.
It's kinda cobbled together.

We have a large hall which is essentially a snug - it is in the centre of the house and we have a sofa, bookshelves and a desk in there. It was the lounge of the house originally (Edwardian house). It has a fireplace, large picture window and the stairs come off the back of it. There is a separate, bigger sitting room.

It's a great space. We've had family staying with us and the kids loved playing in there while the adults were in the sitting room or the kitchen.

We have a large open plan area at the back of our house which has been extended and includes the old dining room (Victorian house). The dining room part is now the snug and has an open fire and alcove units incorporating book shelves. We have a separate sitting room at the front. I can post a picture if you are interested.
