Cleaning and repairing brickwork

The front of our house is north facing so has a lot of green algae on it. I tried cleaning it but it requires a stiff brush and I'm worried about damaging it.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the best approach? What kind of firms could clean it? I've tried googling but they seem to be for commercial buildings which seems a bit over the top!

Is it render? Brickwork? Painted? Photos would help.

I've been wondering about the same thing. We've got North facing brickwork that looks like it needs a bit of a clean. I've no idea where to start. Sorry - not helpful as such but bumping!

Power washer? You can get sprays to deal with the green, forget what's in them now. I'll post when I remember.

look for sources of damp. For example spilling gutters. Photo might give some clues.

Abrasive cleaning will damage the wall.

A chemical called Armatillox is a useful cleaner. There may be similar soap-based cleaners.
