Hi hoping you can help. I have a under sink boiler my whole flat is electric there's no gas. I've been having problems with my boiler today as I noticed that it had cut off, when I checked the electric board the switch was down so I switched it back on and tried the boiler again but it still switches off (trips). I wait like 2 minutes then try to turn it back on and every time is the same thing. I've turned off all my appliances but it still doesn't improve so I'm convinced it's the boiler. Can anyone give me any advice? Am I doing something wrong? I'm only 19 and don't really know much about electricals

And also I've noticed underneath my sink the pipes are very cold and wet & it's the same thing in my bathroom. Don't know if it's related?

Sounds alot like the heating element has failed which is a fairly common occurance with undersink water heaters.

Do I have to call someone out to fix it?

Definitely a job for a plumber

Do you know how old your fuse box is ?
If you have an old style one with cartridge fuses it could just be that the fuse needs changing.

What is printed on the thing that trips?

It won't be a faulty fuse.

Oups, I'm in France and the electrical cupboards here still all have fuses!

we do still have fuses in some older houses, but in this case, it doesn't fit the symptoms. however there are two kinds of breaker, which would trip in different faults.
