Master bedroom, what's more important to you, outside view or size???

Hi all I recently posted something very similar on here but I still seem to be struggling with making a decision, and would gladly welcome any new advice...

I have recently moved house and live on a close.

I have two bedrooms very similar in size but both very small. The front bedroom faces the drive and houses, (which seems very close and intrusive) and the backroom faces the garden. I'm trying to decide which room is the best room to have as the master room. My concern is whether I should be opting for the slightly bigger room, with the not so great view.

or

take the smaller backroom with the privacy of the garden.

With the front bedroom I would have to put blinds whereas the backroom just lining curtains will do!

Generally speaking the area seem quiet.

However, my heart wants the garden view. and the selfish part of me want the little extra space. I must say for a master room, neither room appears grand, given the sizes lol.

One of the rooms will be taken up by my daughter.

Is the master bedroom just for you or are you sharing it with someone?

If I was sharing, I would always choose the larger room - but if it is just for you, choose whichever you prefer. Smile

I would generally say size over view being that I rarely spend any time staring out of my bedroom window but if the idea of being at the front puts you off then definitely go for the back room and let your daughter have the bigger one ( she'll eventually need it anyway)

I'd go for the view (and the quiet - the room at the front will be more at the mercy of noise neighbours/car noise).

I always think that a bedroom just needs room for the bed with a bedside table each side, room to walk around both sides of the bed, then a wardrobe, dressing table/chest of drawers. All I do in my bedroom is sleep and get dressed so as long as there's space for that, why need a bigger room?

Is there an option to move the wall in between them slightly if it bothers you that much? So you could have a bigger bedroom at the back? I went with the front (bigger) bedroom because it has a bay window and gets the morning light. I'm not too bothered about the view from my bedroom (although if it was a sea view or similar that would change things)

If you are the adult, you will probably spend less time in your bedroom when you are awake, so you have less need for view and space.

Definitely the view. I like to open my curtains in the morning and look at the sky whilst sitting in bed with paper/cup of tea/ iPhone. Then after I get out if the shower I like that I don't have to draw my curtains to get dressed. I'd hate the feeling the neighbours could see into my bedroom.

I would (and have) take the smaller room with the garden view. Adults mostly use bedrooms for sleeping / getting dressed where kids have loads of toys and benefit from playing space. That way you can keep the toys out of the rest of the house.

Size. Our bedroom is the gable end of our house and only has two skylights so we have no view at all. Doesn't bother me at all. Old bedroom had a Juliet balcony and French doors but it was a bit wasted on a bedroom really.

You defo speak in practical terms, when you put it like that it doesn't seem such a big deal...I think it will just take a little getting use to having previously had a very large bedroom.

User...
With the current layout, not much option to expand....

I like your thinking, you just painted a very calming picture....hmmm mind made up I think! lol

The bedroom with the Juliet balcony and French doors sounds right up my street. :-)

Can you use the less desirable front room to store seasonal clothes etc - so that not everything is crammed in the back bedroom?
