Buyer so annoying, thinking we will stay and do loft ext?

We thought we were a two weeks from completion; buyer demands electrical, boiler and chimney checks that we pay for. Completion date end of January.

We figure if any faults are found she'll want us to drop our price, but we already dropped 10K.

Plan b, stay here, loft extension and rear extension. To be honest this is a hotter market village than where we were going to move to.

We'd be 200K better off even if we throw 100K at current house.

Thoughts?

If you want to stay where you are then pull out.

If you don't mind either way then just refuse to pay for her surveys. That's pretty cheeky and I've never heard of a seller having to pay for extra surveys. She can then either pay for them herself or pull out.

If you are desperate to move (which it doesn't sound like you are!) then you probably have to suck up paying for them!!

CotswoldStrife · 06/12/2016 13:53

What was the reason that you wanted to move in the first place?

flownthecoopkiwi · 06/12/2016 14:13

Bigger house and to move to village children go to school. Couldn't find anywhere there tho so found big house in another village about similar distance away but they could get a bus and be zoned for the secondary we want.

Decline politely and get an alternative buyer if possible.

Money is better of in your pocket not theirs

Schools would swing it for me. ..

StefCWS · 06/12/2016 14:15

Just refuse, they are just trying to squeeze extra out of you knowing you will be worried they will pull out if you say no. They probably aren't really in a position to pull out and are being really naughty doing that.

YelloDraw · 06/12/2016 14:18

What will you do for secondary school if stay in current village?

Graceflorrick · 06/12/2016 14:23

Tell them no, they either want it or they don't. You've had enough messing around.

flownthecoopkiwi · 06/12/2016 14:32

I think the brexit uncertainty has dampened to market even here

What seen secondary options if you stay?

flownthecoopkiwi · 06/12/2016 14:35

Just checked and we would be in the admission zone for the outstanding secondary we want, and our kids will be at one of its feeder primaries - even if we don't move.

She wants everything her own way and backed down from wanting us to pay for CCTV camera up the chimney only when we threatened to find another buyer.

I'd definitely stay and do the extension! You're still able to get the schools you want, and this way you can make your house how you want and save money.

YelloDraw · 07/12/2016 10:52

If you're still in the catchment area and like the house - I would probably just stay and do the loft conversion.
