Any recommendations for curtain rails in a bay window?

It's a rectangular bay window. I bought some bending curtain rail which dh put up (no criticism aimed at him inspite of the unfeasibly long time it took to do) but now the curtains are up they just won't pull properly round the corners and get bunched up (the rail is not flush against the wall and is curved around the corners).

Not sure where to start trying to find something which will work. I've spend a lot of time and effort decorating the room, having the curtains made and am tragically disappointed that though they look nice I can't actually draw them Sad #firstworldproblem

What heading have you got? Tracks or rings?

I've got and awkward bay. I've ended up with 4 curtains- 2 for each side and 2 for the front. It avoids going round corners.

You can get a forged iron pole made to measure. here. We have some of their straight poles, they are very good, literally solid iron, none of your bendy black painted tubing.

We had a bay set in eaves! I bought a rail with bendy corners from John Lewis, they sell special c shape rings that don't get bunched up. It did all come to a small fortune though!

We replaced an irritating DIY-installed curtain rail with a Silentgliss Metropole track fitted by the curtain shop. It cost loads (over £200 if I remember rightly), but the bliss of not swearing every night whilst trying to yank the curtains round a right-angle bend was invaluable

Astro - the curtains are pinched pleat at the top with a hook sewn at each pleat at the back. These hooks go into a little eyelet type hole which hangs at the bottom of each clip which is on the rail. Hang on, picture probably clearer www.amazon.co.uk/BENDABLE-CURTAIN-STRAIGHT-Standard-Speedy/dp/B01H2TADDU/ref=pd_vtph_201_bs_tr_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=AN60JPQJ9X0KY3WZQ3A9

Hmm, it sounds like I am going to need to spend £££ to fix this Sad - off to the curtain shop I go!

You need a ball bearing track with the plastic loops attached on the rail rather than the curtain so the curtain slides

We had one on a straight teach but you can get bendable ones - have a look

wowfudge · 06/12/2016 08:15

The track you have got is fine - try wiping the track where the gliders run with some silicone based furniture polish. Spray it onto a cloth and wipe on. That should help them run more smoothly.

We have a rectangular bay and bunch the curtains in the corners rather than at the end IYSWIM

We had a pole and C rings, but they still got caught up. It was infuriating, so we Gave up and got blinds! I am considering getting curtains that can be drawn across the top of the bay for added cosiness on chilly nights (in the bedroom, there is no furniture in the bay, it wouldn't work in the living room as there is a sofa there!)

SureStartRedemption · 09/12/2016 07:08

A little update (on possibly the most exciting thread of the year Grin)- so I took Wowfudge's advice and put polish on the rail and it is much improved!! It's never going to be a whoosh and they are open but there's definitely less wrestling involved now. I may replace it with something else in a few years but it will do for now!

Thanks Flowers
