Insulation behind / around a cupboard

We'd like to have a fitted wardrobe installed in our bedroom. There is going to be about 15 cm of space all round the new wardrobe (Pax from Ikea) before it's boxed in. Could I have insulation fibre stuffed in to the gap before it's all sealed up to make the room cosier? It is a 1970s brick built house if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any thoughts.

If it's an outside wall, I think that's a good idea, you can get a build-up of condensation behind freestanding furniture in those circumstances. I'd probably use the rigid, Kingspan style insulation sheets rather than something "fluffy".

they do a special board for drylining, which is rigid insulation bonded to plasterboard

You can decorate onto it, though I would emulsion it before using wallpaper, or it will be difficult to strip.

Celotex and Knauf have similar ranges. They may have an installation guide if you email the support desk.

p.s.

An inch of the rigid foam has about the same insulation as two inches of mineral wool.
